I've been to Ibar a lot, so I see their ebbs and flows. Sometimes they're definitely having an off night and the wings are just so-so, but a lot more often they're great. I agree with the other guy that the chef style sauce is what really sets them apart. They also do fried hard crispy better than anyplace else, and that's really one of the most important things to me.

Based on these posts I went to Don't Know and Kislings recently, neither of which I'd been to in years. Honestly, I was really disappointed with DK. Just nothing was right about them. Not crispy, sauce was just like nothing to me, and they tasted chickeny in a not-good way.

Kislings was good, but Ibar is clearly superior, IMO.

I just got back from Minneapolis and tried one of their "best wings in the city" places, and it wasn't any better than Kislings and nowhere near Ibar. I think we have it pretty good with Ibar here.

I too went to Charles Village Pub just for a change of pace and, while my experience wasn't quite as bad as yours, yeah, the wings sucked. I'm pretty sure the sauce is whatever crap they can order from their food distributor and is probably vegetable oil with some hot sauce in it. Anyplace that doesn't make their own sauce isn't even in the conversation.
