You overestimate how much the average NH voter cares about this issue.
We just had an election last month in which the Democratic gubernatorial candidate was vocally in favor of legalization and he lost… by a lot.

I rent a 800 sq ft apartment on the Seacoast. My rent went up $30 this past June. I consider myself quite fortunate!

May just be perception, but it seems there has certainly been increased violent crime in New Hampshire this year. It’s certainly unnerving and I don’t think I’m alone.

Yeah the Ferncroft area is just quintessential rural New England goodness. Absolutely beautiful.
For the sake of argument, I’d call this area decidedly central NH.

Honestly, if you have to ask this, you probably aren’t suited to doing this hike right now.
There could be feet of snow, there could be no snow. It could be deadly cold or relatively mild. It could be all of these things in one afternoon. If you’re new to winter hiking, Washington is not the place to start.
If you want to go up that way and give winter hiking a try, I’d recommend Mount Jackson. It’s got great views and is in the Presidentials, but tree line (aka safety and shelter) is easily within reach. For what it’s worth, there is no snow anywhere in the Whites right now.
