Phil can stay in office for as long as he wants to keep running. VT generally love incumbents. Our last R governor, Jim Douglas stuck around for 4 terms (2 years apiece), and when he stepped down, he was replaced with a shitshow of a D governor who was even able to manage holding on for 3 terms before Phil took the office.

There are no other statewide R candidates that are competitive, mostly lately because they are strong social conservatives, which doesn't fly with the large part of the electorate.

I've been digging in to Fidium since my town is supposedly next on the list. I'm not sure the context of the Consolidated numbers provided here. Is that using their 50 Mbps plan? The 2 Gbps?

Reading /r/FidiumFiber, it looks like while some are able to get full 1Gpbs speeds, there are some equipment issues or congestion issues that could lead to slower speeds.

Some social scientists believe that America lost it's democracy after Citizens United with it's (un)intended consequences of unlimited Super PACs, dark money PAC, and no disclosure donations. It allowed the super rich like George Soros and Robert Uiline to drop hundreds of millions of dollars to affect elections like never before, essentially giving them the most "speech" from their grand pulpits.

We need to return all national political office to public financing and end PACs, since that's what allowed this fiasco. I don't blame any politician for taking unlimited dark money - hate the game, not the player

That's a nice article but nowhere in it does it support what you and Mr Viens are suggesting, which is POC police should only police POC. Instead what it says is that overall diversifying the ENTIRE police department has led to fewer minor crime arrests in minority areas. It also mentions women officers showed the same pattern, and the person featured in the article sums it up by saying:

> She and other local activists want to see more body cameras, community oversight of police, stringent use of force policies and more consequences for police officers who do harm while on the job.

I can't tell if you lack critical reading and argument skills, or if you're yet another bad faith troll.

Edit: I saw your other posts. You're definitely a bad faith troll.

I'm not sure about the DMV, but you could consider trying for an Urgent appointment at the Passport Center in St. Albans. They can process and have a passport set up same day, but getting an appointment tomorrow or Friday could be difficult.

Since it's for international travel, you'll need to show that you plan on going at least to Canada for a night. You can find a hotel reservation that's cancelable after the appointment to have that proof.

A sincere apology has multiple parts:

  • Expressing regret

  • Accept responsibility

  • Making restitution

  • Requesting forgiveness

  • Genuine promise of change

This guy's non-apology statement was along the lines of a toss off "I'm sorry if people were offended but..."

Businesses as struggling and I can't think of any that's in a place to turn down income from natives, transplants, refugees, transients, or hedge fund managers. Besides cutting off your nose to spite your face, this also has about as much of an impact as those idiots that have tried to get a general gas strike for a day - those turned away will just do their business elsewhere and the business is the only one hurt.

> State Electoral College

Because the national electoral college works so well! We have a bicameral system that's designed to give voice to the biggest population centers as well as equal representation across the state.

> Longer residency limits to run for office

That would be unconstitutional for national congresscritters. But for state reps, I would be in favor of raising residency requirements from 2 to 5. 10 years is unnecessarily long, and there are plenty of good representatives across the state who have lived here for fewer than 10 years. Term limits would be nice too.

Minorities have been purged off voter roles in multiple states, even for skipping voting in only one election, and aren't notified about it. Poling places in poor and minority communities have been closed, forcing them to find a way to get to a far away voting place, and then Georgia passed a bill that made it illegal to give these people who have been standing in line for hours even a bottle of water even in 100 degree weather. I'm guessing you've never had to wait more than 10 minutes to check in to vote, but I have relatives who have waited for hours in the South, while white areas have no such waits. I won't even get into the voter intimidation of voters in cities, in the name of looking out for voter fraud. I ask you, since 2016, how many provable instances of voter fraud were there? I'll give you a hint, the convictions were almost all Trump voters voting twice or more.

LGBT teachers aren't even allowed to mention their significant other in class without falling afoul of "Don't say Gay" laws in Florida, while straight teachers are freely able to talk about their wives or husbands.

All of these are easily verifiable with a very quick Google search.

One party is putting forth solutions to actual issues facing our country, no matter how well or poorly conceived.

The other party is obsessed with fighting a culture war and even when fully in charge has only given massive tax cuts to the rich and kept dark skinned immigrants out of the country while otherwise trying to bend or break the laws that uphold the free institutions that preserve our democracy in the name of trying to stay in power permanently.

Both sides indeed.
