They probably did market research and figured out that the vast majority of drivers don't care about Top Tier certification, so why bother.

Remember, GetGo is the gas station that was pretty much created around the "spend $50, save 10 cents a fill up" to drive people to shop at Giant Eagle. And people went gaga for it, to save $1.50 when spending $50.

Plus, with how they're gutting the current perks program to whatever the new MyPerks is (much worse) it seems they're re-aligning their model to be less of a shopping driver to an Sheetz-type high markup convenience store that happens to have gas.

Walmart actually has a pretty decent selection of hot sauces, for being Walmart. Only place locally I know where I can find Secret Aardvark.

Their website/app can sometimes tell you if it's available in-store. Red Devil is not in mine (and their website is pretty bad).

You can get a gallon of it on Amazon for $30 though.

I'm convinced "New Years Pretzels" are an imaginary creation of Giant Eagle, to try and sell a thing.

It's a big ass, soft pretzel. Spread with frosting and sprinkles in a non-uniform fashion. It's like if you unleashed my inner baker at 12 years old and I could cook whatever I wanted for a holiday, and Mom and Dad have to smile and pretend to like the monstrosity the kid created.

Got gas line insurance from Columbia, my local provider. At the recommendation of the the tech who turned on my service when I moved in.

Had to use it in less than 2 years of moving in. Gas leaking at the sidewalk, right at the cutoff.

They sent some hillbilly contractors who rented a small back-hoe, and got the job done in a day. Cost me nothing (other than the $3 a month on my bill), my biggest complaint was the grass. I bought and watered good seed, and someone showed up 2 months after just as it was starting to take root and threw some straw/seed down on top of it.

9/10 would recommend.

varies by location My local store has none. If you ask the manager behind the counter they can look up who has it in-stock in nearby stores, or order some for you but it won't happen before New Years.

They stock the stores by what moves. Robinson is whatever special wine store so I'd bet they would have it.

What is /r/pittsburgh 's though on the whole vs half wing thing?

I consider the half - either drum, or flat - wings "normal" wings. But I have seen a few places call that style "wing dings", indicating that true wings are both parts, connected. Usually indicated on the menu so you don't order a dozen of their wings and get effectively 24.

You asked for calm on New Years Eve.

That's like the 3rd night of the holy trinity of amateur hours, the first 2 being St Patrick's Day and Thanksgiving Eve. Calm crowds stay home for them.

I'm making surf and turf and watching Violent Night at home.

I know someone who became homeless due to a fire next door. Red Cross showed up at the scene and handed out vouchers for a few days at a hotel, and some Walmart cards. Nothing huge, but in the shock of being involved with basically losing everything, at least got them through the next couple of days while they tried to sort things out.

It sounds like OP is away currently, but if/when they return still may be able to take advantage of what they're offering so they're not literally out in the cold.

I've been to many weddings at The Fez up in Hopewell. It's fine, food is OK, your typical "and now time for the chicken dance" kind of place.

Was in a wedding at The Lamont (for the view) and I thought the food was the best I've had at a wedding. Being in the wedding party and served first may have had something to do with that.

Hartford Acres is a popular one to the north, but there's been some hubub about neighbors getting nasty about noise issues (reception going past 10, neighbors retaliating and showing up etc).

I can honestly say I've never been to a formal wedding reception that I was like "wow" to. Other than "you spent how much for a 5 hour party?!". I got married up on Lake Erie, had a cookout afterwards, and those drinking pitched tents. To each their own, good luck and congrats

It used to be with the price of gas it was cheaper to heat with it. Also a lot of older homes in Pittsburgh were built before forced air heating was a thing, so they use a gas boiler + radiator system (which was probably converted from coal to gas back in the day).

I haven't done the math on if gas vs electric is cheaper recently, but both gas an electric recently went up by like 50% because reasons.

An electric heater is pretty much 100% efficient, that's just thermodynamics. The real thing to consider is cost. And it's not inexpensive to switch from say electric to gas, or vice versa, so you're generally stuck with what you have.

No, but it doesn't look that bad. There's liquid so there has to be some salt + sun warming the blacktop.

Even just driving around my neighborhood I try to hit any icy chunks, break them up so they can melt faster. It's going to be 31 tomorrow
