That's the only reason I just bought AWD, because my wife is a dog sitter and if she can't get to someone's house, that means animals are going hungry/messing the floor.

Me personally, working a 9-5 in the Airport area, never had a need. If it truly is catastrophically bad out, I just stay home.

One of the things people don't consider with AWD is the need to rotate your tires because usually they need replaced all at once. One flat, that's 4 tires. Another added expense that makes it more a luxury feature IMO.

Do you keep a litter box in the attic?

We had an issue with my cat, when my wife moved in and brought her 3 cats, and spraying. It was a territory thing, a literal pissing contest, my cat was not pleased. Solution ended up being more litter boxes in more locations (we used to just have one, in the basement that my cat used. We got more and put them on the 1st and second floor).

I'll actually avoid Sheetz for unless I want food for exactly this reason.

I'm a "pop in and grab a drink" kind of gas station patron. Every other gas station you can get either Turner's for cheap, or as a backup a 99c Arizona. Except Sheetz - it's like $1.59 for an oddly shaped bottle of honestly shit tea (and look at my examples, the bar is low).

Ventana Hills apartments is a gated community.

Which was hilarious because in the 00s it was student housing for Pittsburgh Technical. Like, the people you want to keep out are already in here...

The poor security guards all got fired after an incident where someone hotwired the big dually landscaping truck they kept parked at the clubhouse and stole it. Initially they thought the gate guard just missed it, but it turned out whoever took it drove it through the woods towards the old Brother's Grimm.

I know a family who lived in The Rocks and rented a small 1br apartment in Sewickley to establish residency so their daughter could go to Quaker Valley.

A lot of kids near me in Hopewell actually live in Aliquippa, but "use grandma's address" to come to Hopewell. There was a big stink a few years ago because they caught and expelled a few kids.

Not saying it's legal or moral. I'm of the very very small minority that think we should merge with Aliquippa SD the way Center and Monaca did to form Central Valley.

Statistically, but I'm willing to bet that Chicago snow sticks around a lot longer too. Like snow on the ground all winter, vs 6" here and it rains 3 days later here.

Also the Great Lakes act as a heat ballast, causing warmer falls and early winter and cooler springs into the summer. I grew up in Erie so not Chicago, but I can say the change of seasons right on Lake Erie is a lot less tumultuous and once the winter coat is out, it's staying out.

Did you get the commercials back in the 90's-00's? I'm not sure if they aired in Pittsburgh, but up in Erie it was a non-stop mashup of this song with the Daffins, "just 90 minutes away".

Freaking Erie and the jingles. When I visit my parents they watch the local news and they're still going strong! I guess to their credit, they do work if 20+ years later I bring it up.

Talk about insult to injury, they're taking (up to) just 6% off someone you just laid off's salary if they lay them off.

Like not just lay you off, but setting back your retirement savings a year for a figure of 6% of their salary which is peanuts even relative to the salary itself that they will be saving.

They could write this into an episode of the Simpsons as something Mr. Burns would do.

Wanted to add the National Aviary as a suggestion as well, it's pretty unique to Pittsburgh you won't find in other towns, even if they have a decent zoo. Beyond the exhibits they have a lot of animal encounters, and even penguin feeding. I took my kids when they were in that age range and they got a huge kick out of it.

It sounds like you've covered all the bases I could think of.

Just went through a few years of major restorative work, with "good" insurance still capped at $2k/year payout and only covers 50% of the work. Financed on CareCredit (which you said you can't get approved for) defitenly helped smooth out the out of pocket side, and my dentist (Unis Dental in Hopewell) and his staff worked to come up with a multi-year plan to both maximize my insurance utilization, and prioritize the work that needed to be done (pain/need to have first, then appearance/nice to have).

One thing I can tell you - and I know you said the Pitt Dental School is probably out because of anxiety - but if they can help you out, it will have a huge impact on your overall mental health to not be self conscious about your smile/teeth. Maybe talk to whoever you're seeing, if they can give you an "emergency" pill to take the edge off.
