That’s classic. Once had a doctor in Chicago threaten a friend who was trying to get out of the hospital after an ICU stay by saying “you work at VCU? I went to MCV and I have friends at VCU who I will tell you ignored my advice to stay in the hospital another day, don’t make me call them and tell them you did that”.

Sounds like you’re talking about Coppola’s Deli in Carytown. They’ve been around since around then. Rostov’s coffee is still around too but they moved to Main st. in the Fan.

For pastries like you’re talking about Sub Rosa in Church Hill, Idle Hands on the Fan or Up All Night in Lakeside would be your best bets for getting something similar.

Sixth Street Marketplace still exists it’s just boarded up and very sad looking. Coliseum is also still there but closed up and gated off.

The Diamond is still here but at the end of its life and scheduled to be replaced but I’ll believe that when it happens.

Maymont is still here and worth a visit. The Carillon too for that matter.

I had a more aggressive filter but the first time I had an HVAC technician come look at my system he was adamant I use a lower rated filter. His point was the filter is just designed to keep debris from getting into the machinery itself not out of the air.

So I’ve got several HEPA filters running throughout my house instead. Not exactly as easy a solution as buying a higher rated MERV filter but certainly cheaper than a new HVAC system!

That’s a good way to shorten the life of your HVAC system.

I use air purifiers in my house and the lowest MERV filter I can for my heat pump. Unless your system is specifically designed for air filtration higher MERV rated filters make your unit work harder than it’s designed to.

Worth pointing out the fatal accident on the East side of Lakeside avenue a few months back where a car was T-boned killing the driver. Traffic needs to be slowed down on that road in a big way.

I really don’t understand why Dumbarton/Azalea needs to have lanes as wide as I64. I mean it dead ends into Staples Mill and Laburnum so it doesn’t really connect anything major or even industrial areas like Hilliard (which also is a massively overbuilt road). I’d like to see some large traffic circles on Dumbarton at Impala, Cottage and Hermitage and just eliminate those stop lights. Add another roundabout on the other side of Lakeside avenue. Some sidewalks and protected bike lanes (preferably with Jersey barriers) would be great too as well as pedestrian bump outs. It’s just a massively overbuilt road that feels like it’s a 55 mph zone and changing signs to 35mph and even stepped up enforcement doesn’t change that one bit.

It’s much more accessible than Maymont. Ramps in almost all the places that have stairs. The path lighting isn’t great but it does exist. Much more accessible than other parts and events in town.

Chesterfield is STILL a staunch opponent of bud service. They killed their last routes a few years ago and have only recently admitted they might need some GRTC service.

The Pulse gave GRTC a badly needed chance to rebrand. But really needs substantial investment from Henrico, Chesterfield, and the City to expand service and increase frequency. Why we are building a “temporary” bus shelter AGAIN is beyond me though.

How many years has a brewery been rumored to be opening in Richmond? Trapezium took forever to open their other outpost in the town of Amherst. If they end up opening in Richmond I’d bet it will take at least a few years.

It’s a contracted service. Police don’t usually give tickets unless someone calls them about a car blocking a loading zone or handicap ramp. Tickets from police look very different from tickets you get from parking enforcement. I’d be surprised if the city makes much money at all annually from parking tickets. Whatever money they do make likely just goes into the general revenue fund and is used for basic city expenses.

That said if a sign says 1 hour parking and your boyfriend says it’s fine to park longer I guess you learned a lesson about who to listen to.
