Depending on your style (in no particular order) and if you want a whistler or not.
- Alessi
- Demeyere
- Richmond Kettle company (I mean, wow, I you can swing that, this is the BIFL answer it’s a work of art)
- Takasaki
I opted for the Demeyere, it was on sale last year at way too good of a price to pass up. It’s 18/8 stainless steel, should last several lifetimes.
There are also a ton of vintage options if that’s your thing. I’m just less familiar with those.

BIFL = Stovetop kettle
Sorry to be a wet towel, but the electronics will fail at some point.

You guys have Redwing up there? That would be my vote.

- Lodge carbon steel and cast iron
- Thermoworks Thermapen
- Escali scale and candy thermometer
- Epicurean utensils (and Dexter)
- Demeyere 3-ply pots and pans
- Vitamix
- Vollrath mixing bowls (or tongs)
- Moccamaster coffee maker
- Baratza coffee grinder
- Magimix food processor
- Corelle tableware

Agreed, but This is r/buyitforlife. We don’t do “beep boops”. Analog pressure cookers FTW.

The BIFL answer is Sony 7506 with a mod mic.
Probably ~$150 all in. The 7506’s are absolute workhorses and are known around the industry to sound fantastic and LAST.

You have a point - but I certainly hope that’s not the case! Though, typically those types of moves come after an acquisition of sorts ie. Remington. To my knowledge Miele has not changed ownership.

Post over in r/vacuumcleaners they will get you sorted.
This is very unlike a Miele machine.

Then why don’t we see metal in salt grinders? 🤔
Edit: I’m specifically talking about the grinder itself. Lots of brands tout “metal gearing etc.” but the grinder itself is ceramic or plastic.

Most people here buy from Amazon which is notorious for fake Peugeots.

They make an awesome gift. Just make sure you buy from a reputable source. TONS of fakes out there, unfortunately.

Peugeot is known the world over for BIFL pepper grinders, the other is not. Enough said.

Salt + metal = corrosion. There is no way around it.
The alternative is plastic, and I’m sure you can imagine how that story ends.
