BIFL? Anything made by Magee’s. Real Donegal Irish tweed (wool). Impeccable quality.

BIFL?
18” Edlund tongs
Or
Use what the pro BBQ folks use, a folded up cheap kitchen towel. No gloves in sight.

Cuisinart is a good rec.

Demeyere, All Clad, American Kitchen (look for these brands, that are 3ply (not 5 or 7) 18/10 stainless)
Edit: Also, look for fully clad meaning there is no line around outside of the base of the pan. (Most of the above are fully clad, but just make sure!)

No, he’s right. It’s a shark vacuum and DT sock circlejerk. I stick around because every once in a while there is a nugget of good info (Fox River socks, Miele/SEBO vacuums, Edlund tongs) but it’s mostly trash/disposable products IMO.

Those sources are not unbiased. Bought and paid for by PR budgets.

BIFL you say?
The correct answer is Richmond Kettle Company. The kettle is copper, the handle is ebonised beech wood, and it whistles. An absolute work of art.

Reply to If you shave, get a shaving handle that uses a simple disposable razor. The razor lasts much longer than anything at your local store and provides a better shave. by bi_polar2bear
Yep. Safety razors are great.
Pro tip: you can extend the useful life of your blades by preventing oxidation. When not in use, keep your razor head/blade submerged in mineral oil. (Can be found at the pharmacy for $2-3)
Shaving 2-3x a week and my blade lasts 2 months.
Pro tip #2: get your shaving soap etc. from Stirling soap. They’re incredible.

Just remember, most “lifetime warranties” are not your lifetime. It’s the expected lifetime of the product.
With that said, can you get Duluth Pack down under?

Magimix
It’s the civilian version of a robocoupe. They know a thing or two about food processors for restaurants. In fact, they’re so ubiquitous that’s it’s just called a “robocoupe” in the food service industry. Not a food processor.

You’ll want 18/10 3-ply stainless (5 and 7 ply cost too much and take too long to head up, not worth the added cost IMO.)
Check out Demeyere, American Kitchen, All-Clad.
Depending on how big of a soup pot and large pan you want, you may be better off at a restaurant supply store for those.

Reply to comment by 1212gatez in I have two low pile/almost no pile area rugs and hardwood floors. I’m tired of vacuum cleaners that just stop working after a couple years. I do have pets. Anyone have any experience with carpet sweepers? And can you recommend a bifl one? by 1212gatez
A fuller brush, but I wouldn’t consider that a replacement for a vacuum. More like a secondary vac for quick messes.
The advice here (with some exceptions) is sound. A Miele or SEBO will last you 20+ years. Shark, dyson or any bagless & cordless vac are disposable trash.
Head over the r/vacuumcleaners they will help you out.

IMO top loads last longer (Speed Queen TC5 has less fancy bits and bobs to fail - more analog)
If you must get a front loader, Miele is the answer.

Carmine Jack has a fantastic custom belt kit. It’s pricey, but it’s the last belt I’ll likely ever need. Even after 5 years it looks practically new.
Edit: just looked and it’s a lot more expensive than when I bought it. (Almost 2x)
Still a great value though.
