Black swans are funny; I love how things suddenly go from "'it'll never happen" to "it was inevitable". And somehow people never anticipate the next one.
We could cure aging next year and everyone will be saying it took too long and Ponce de Leon was working on it 500 years ago.

And here I can't even predict what's going to happen next year. 🤷

Are you on VRChat there? It's got a massive furry community.

VR/MX is already good enough for me. I can envision the next generation replacing my desktop altogether.
VRChat, a Quest Pro, airlink and a decent graphics card is incredible.

The misanthropic ecofascists that think the universe would be better off without us are just as bad, and a lot more prevalent on Reddit.

I'm suspicious of any group or ideology that seems too certain about what the future holds. The more I learn, the less confident I feel about my ability to predict what's coming.
It's fun to speculate though. Humans need to dream.

Yes. Publicity is the only protection for private individuals, and even then you have to hope people will actually give a shit.

Both climate dooming and singularitarianism are incel religions for men that struggle to thrive in the current world.
"The singularity will give me purpose and a robot girlfriend" is the other side of the coin from dudes hoping society collapses 'cause they're losers with no prospects that think they could be warlords in a Mad Max world. There's also the suicidal, misanthropic soyboys that want everyone to die too...
Pure escapism, all of it.

The Abraham religions are on the way out along with every other remnant of patriarchal culture. But there will be new religions as the new dominant civilization emerges.

This is the thriving vs. survival theory of morality. Conservatives see the world like they're in a zombie apocalypse, progressives see it like it's the garden of Eden.

Why what?
Growth is axiomatic to life. In nature, if you're not growing then you're dying. There's no middle ground.

Technology will not erase human's intrinsic desire for worship unless we purposely seek to excise it. We're overdue for a religious awakening in the industrialized world; the gods of the new age just haven't been born yet.

I'm a radical centrist.
I side with the left politically in meatspace because the right is a threat to my community. But honestly I think everyone in the cultural mainstream would be horrified by my views on life, humanity and the future.
The average person is risk averse and gets anxious when their favorite restaurant changes their menu. I want to spread trillions of human souls out into outer (and inner) darkness in a wave of riotous morphological and psychological diversity, like seeds in the wind. We're not the same.

We could just engineer ourselves genetically to thrive in the new climate, it's not like Earth is going to become hell itself.
Also, most of us in wealthy countries will be fine. Specially north America.

Humans are not very good at multiplication. Hell, I'm completely innumerate due to a learning disability yet I don't think anyone that's ever met me would call me stupid. Do I not possess general intelligence?
Even an imperfect brain such as mine would do wonders if I could think a million times faster, correlate all the contents of my mind and have high bandwidth access to constant cognitive updates and all existing knowledge...
