I can't speak to the specific building but are you comparing it to other walk ups or luxury building? Is it on a garden level or 3-4 story walkup? Anything above a couple of floors gets a discount for all the stairs you have to walk. Also if it's a basement/garden apartment it will be cheaper because it will be prone to flooding. Would not recommend if that is the case.

Got it, just wanted to make sure you had numbers and such right but sounds like you do since you're trying to go from 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom.
If you can stick with your current rent or closer to it, you shouldn't have an issue finding a luxury building in Bergen Lafayette near the light rail. You'd want to be looking near the northern part of Bergen Lafayette. The area isn't as neighborhoody as Hamilton park or the heights, but the light rail can get you downtown in a few minutes.
I live near the light rail and personally love how I can get throughout most of Jersey City and Hoboken on it very easily, even parts of weehawken and Bayonne. But I don't need to go to the city, not sure if you would find it annoying to have to transfer to the path on a regular basis.
Based on your response I'm already changing my opinion of thinking you should move to Bergen Lafayette whereas before I said the heights. So moral of the story is definitely check out the neighborhoods!

You won't have an issue in a walkup in basically any neighborhood, except downtown, but may even get lucky with a few listings downtown.
Your budget is pushing it for luxury buildings, even in JSQ and Bergen Lafayette. If you're willing to up it a few hundred, it would be much more reasonable, if luxury building is an absolute requirement. Might I ask what you are paying now? $2500 for a 2 bedroom in a luxury building near Hamilton park sounds incredibly low, even if it's a quote from a few years ago. Unless you are trying to lower your rent now?
The neighborhoods vary so much and all except Greenville (not somewhere you'd be looking anyway) have easy city access. In the heights, make sure you're close to the bus or the light rail, JSQ close to the path, Bergen Lafayette close to the light rail. Portions of all of these neighborhoods will be close to this stuff and portions will not. But Hamilton park isn't exactly great for city access either. If you consider it to be then you probably won't have an issue at all.
You really should just walk around and decide which you like the most. If you like the Hamilton park area, I'd personally lean towards the heights but you may feel differently. If your lease is up soon you've presumably lived in town at least a year - you haven't explored other neighborhoods?

I knew the lights were an issue for a while - I live nearby - but I thought they fixed that. I thought I heard that was an issue with a sensor or some?

If you notice the stone stops around the height of the surrounding buildings. I assumed it was to make the skyline look cohesive and the top to disappear into the sky.
Also gives the upper floors (most expensive) epic views.

It would be torture if they made street cleaning the same time on both sides of the street. That would mean that you can't park anywhere on the entire street.

Paulus Hook is a closer to the PATH, quieter and feels more like a residential neighborhood because the buildings are smaller scale. Main difference in the rent. Both areas are perfectly safe, though.

It's incredibly safe. The cost of the rent alone should tell you that.

You did not ruffle my feathers. I was simply clarifying what I said, which was that they have vegetarian friendly appetizers. I never claimed the entire menu was vegetarian friendly. Would love if you provided some alternates, instead of criticizing places other people are suggesting, on a matter which is incredibly subjective.

You are correct that the black bean burger is the only entree. But it is the best black bean burger in town. OP specifically asked for tastiest. To me, it's one of the tastiest vegetarian entrees you can get in town.
I specifically called out vegetarian friendly appetizers. Their French onion soup dumplings are amazing, pierogis are good, sauce on fried cauliflower is divine, and the nachos sans meat is good. That's four solid vegetarian appetizers, pretty rare in my opinion for a non-vegetarian place.
Also, all three of their entree salads are vegetarian to start with the option to add meat. And they are solid salads, not just lettuce and cucumbers.
Obviously it's not going to hold a candle to an actual vegetarian place. I was just trying to give OP some options outside of the box as they seemed to express wanting non-Indian places and 90% of the purely vegetarian places in this town are Indian.

I'm not vegetarian so can't comment on purely vegetarian places but I do enjoy eating vegetarian from time to time. It you're ok with a traditional menu with vegetarian options, the black bean burger at Hamilton Inn is excellent. I've had black bean burgers at a few different places in town and theirs is the best. The vegan ramen at Ani ramen is also excellent. Uncle Momo's has the best hummus in town and their falafel is unique. Also you can't go wrong with Razza for pizza. Almost all of their pizzas are vegetarian, only a few have meat.
All of these restaurants are also vegetarian friendly with plenty of vegetarian appetizers on the menu as well, except maybe Ani Ramen as the menu is just pretty small.
For quick serve, the fried avocado tacos and/or nachos at Tacoria are unreal.

how will this impact getting a license in NJ? It won't

will this be on any sort of permanent record or publically accessible record? Technically will be a court record but no one will care. I have probably received about 50 parking tickets (a similar offense) in my life and no one has ever asked about them.
what will I need to pay? He said it will be like $30 but online I see 70-100 - whatever it says online when you plug in the ticket info
will I need to report this to landlords in the future , no
It's a non criminal offense. It's just a fine. Chill out, pay it, and don't be so dumb next time. You are really freaking out over nothing.
