It personally frustrates me a lot when grocery store employees make seasonal displays and completely wipe out the shelves to do so.

I was looking for pie crust and there was 0 pie crust at all where it should be. I figured there must have been a giant run on crust, but then later realized that no, it was in a seasonal cooler display in another location.

The same has happened before with spices and other baking needs. I get what they're trying to do but grocery shopping is already overwhelming enough for me without having to play hide and seek with seasonal displays. I've never worked at a place where we cleared out the regular stock area to make a display.

If you mean styrofoam coolers, you want to make sure you're putting them inside a plastic shell such as a rubbermaid tote box.

And make sure that it is STRAW you (and other cat helping folks) are using!

Home Depot also sells rolls of foil-like insulation which is also good if you don't want to deal with sawing styrofoam and making a little snow flurry. Just tape that to the inside of the tote box and the lid.

I could be speaking out of my butt here, but where my parents live there really isn't much of an East Asian community - primarily Desi, Latin, and some Middle Eastern. Maybe in places with more East Asian communities they change the sections to have more relevant products?

I used sidewalks but that's sometimes considered an asshole move. I just had a beach cruiser bike which was not really suited for roads, and did not bike on very populated sidewalks (for instance I'd never bike in Carytown). If a normally unpopulated sidewalk was populated, I'd get off and walk the bike. (and still avoided most hassling)

Some roads have bike lanes, how well they are maintained and how well people pay attention really varies.

It really just depends on you being polite and aware of yourself and the space you're taking up.

I recommend buying a pepper spray. I had one all through college and never used it, but it's always good to have. You can get them at lots of places and they're legal to have and carry. Again you probably WON'T ever have to use it, but defense is good!

I also recommend getting a bicycle! You can get to places faster and a bit safer. For instance I rarely had issues at the infamous Lombardy Kroger because I was always in/out fast on my bike. Biking is also free and nice exercise :) and make sure to get a bike lock of course too.

I recommend avoiding going over the river into Manchester area alone, or at night, or on foot. The James is right there which is popular housing, but the area really isn't great at all. It's trying to come up but it hasn't yet.

As someone from Saudi Arabia you are probably more likely to experience racism further out in certain suburbs, particularly if you are hijabi, but there are assholes all over the world and I wouldn't say it's "worse" here. Richmond is really diverse.

Since we have so many tattoo shops with good reputations, it really depends a lot on what style you want and what your budget is. I'd say to budget at least $300 for a small one that is good. (This includes tip)

If you like anime or cute things, Black Rabbit Tattoo's girls are awesome. Salvation Tattoo is right on campus and all their artists are incredibly talented, they do more traditional and neotraditional. Just search "tattoo" in this sub and you'll get lots of recs!

We're at the most financially stable we've been in 8 years and for various reasons buying a house is something we both really want. We are willing to wait if we have to, and we've discussed it several times, but we'd rather not if we can help it. I know the market is really really stupid but based on listings our agent has been sending us we can still get something nicer than what we have without killing ourselves financially.

Hi Larry! I'm going to discuss everything with my husband tonight, we've gone back and forth a lot on whether or not we want to wait another few months and save more/wait for interest rates to be less scary, but I've already let him know that I've got some really great leads.

Thanks!!
