Following with interest. I've gone to a few open houses, and some of these condos are (superficially) gorgeous. But the prospect of shoddy construction has me... reluctant to commit. (There are so, so many of these things going up)

I was skeptical of Cangiano's--especially the prices. But I was wrong: Recently ordered my first hero (I think it was the chicken cutlet/mutz/red pepper/eggplant/other stuff), and it was quite good (and easily enough for two meals). I'll be going back for another.

Let's try another thought experiment:
Someone comes up to you from behind at an ATM, shoves you to the ground and steals $800. The police somehow catch the assailant.
Do you press charges?

While I appreciate your empathy for the person in your scenario above, you know absolutely nothing about the actual perpetrator of this actual crime. You know nothing of their life, nothing of the crimes they've committed in the past. You don't know if they're violent; you don't know if they served time for assault or rape. It might be nice to think they're a Dickensian street urchin just trying to scrape by, but we just don't know.
He's a former inmate, according to the story. Left his ID at the scene. In other words, a repeat offender. But let's feel worse for him than the person he robbed.

Rooting for the recidivist?
Those years aren't being "taken away." He willingly risked them by committing a crime.

LOL. OK, so... I was intending the exact OPPOSITE of what folks apparently think I meant. I found it odd that you mentioned the word "gay" more than once, and made sure to let folks know you weren't gay--as if sexuality was relevant. I took your comments as homophobic. I guess I was the only one.
So, for the record: I'm an LGBQT ally, folks!

It is... and it isn't. If you make over a certain income, you aren't eligible for Federal subsidies. In which case, you purchase your insurance through the NJ healthcare marketplace (it's essentially the same plans).
In the case of the OP, they will receive federal subsidies, so they should start at healthcare.gov.
HobokenJ t1_irja7ue wrote
Strongly recommend you look at your options via healthcare.gov --you may end up paying next-to-nothing for insurance. NJ offers subsidies on top of the federal subsidies. You can have insurance almost immediately.

Keep in mind, there is NOT an automatic abatement with new construction. Often, the new homeowner will need to apply for the abatement.
