While crossing grand, I had someone nudging into the crosswalk yell at me to 'hurry the fuck up so I can turn, or I'll run you over' so they could make a left on red. This was during the middle of the day when school kids were going home. Fuck someone needs to enforce some sort of traffic laws here, it just emboldens the worst possible people

Also I'd argue "The Waterfront" is meaningless as it it subdivides pretty quickly. And if that's the only sub division of downtown it does seem more than a bit arbitrary. Lumping it all in as Down Town is fine, but peeling that one part off is sorta weird. If anything Newport has a history of being "not downtown, we're our own thing" since the redevelopment from industrial to a neighborhood.

Basically. I go in the middle of the day on a weekday when it's slow, usually it's an okay to good person. I'm not a complicated cut & it's fine, I'd rather cheap.

Going during Prime Time when they are full and rushing, not as good.

This intersection has been a shit show for years. We're on vision zero influenced V2. The bridge through LSP to 78 has not helped one bit, nor the additional hospital construction. It's still unsafe and awkward to use for pedestrians, cars, and bikes trying to use it.

One time in a tread here someone demanded I couldn't possibly know it was dangerous without a traffic study, which got me pissy because ANYONE WHO HAS WALKED ACROSS THAT INTERSECTION GETS IT. It probably needs a left turn arrow from Jersey onto Grand, probably needs raised cross walks, probably needs speed bumps or other calming measure further back in all directions, probably needs a full cycle of red for cars and walk for pedestrians. Probably also needs a crossing guard posted for all rush hour times.
