When did you buy though, I mean when the building opened that was like $350k; now it's probably more like $800k. With the massive year over year increases in DTJC, it's easy to loose touch with current markets if you haven't shopped around in awhile.

Also, cranky old man yells into the wind: The rent's too damn high, everything's too damn expensive.

No one offered this to me or let me know it was a thing, so happy to bring it up. It was a nice few years with no car or driving, but holy hell does it suck to have a very high deductible & monthly rates higher than 22 year olds

If you do sell the car you may want to keep a driver only policy. I went car less for a few years, and my rates coming back to owning a car were about 2.5x (even with worse coverage & deductible) what they were before. The insurance person gave me the reason was lapse in coverage made them rate me back down with new driver/insurance scofflaw policies, and that keeping a low basic driver only policy would have helped with that. Maybe blowing smoke at me, but fuck no one told me about the possible downsides

Used to live there. that parking lot constantly flooded, and there is (was?) a hotel there and people would often get their car totaled not knowing.

That strip mall is otherwise surprisingly dope. Coffee place is great, pizza place is decent, trader joe's is a good one. Feral cats live in the crawlspace under it, so that's fun too.

Can we get the mayor or something to do one of those viral dares, where he dares Trader Joe's to open a location faster than Whole Foods can open? C'mon lets use hellscape social media for something good.

They were always there, it's just the pandemic upped the ante as to what they have to do to stay in the Insane category. I've never had someone behind me floor it into the oncoming lane to cut inside of me, so they could make a lefthand turn before I could, until 2021. It's now happened over a dozen times and impacted how I go through several intersections in town.

But they could also do a bit better job from where the picture is in defining the tracks VS road, as the pic shows the materials are all mixed about & this happens to confused folks a bit too much.

I thought the harsh crowd control measures like pens you can't leave, and having to arrive like 8-12+ hours beforehand, were security after. Maybe that tamped down the crowds, but the experience sounds miserable.

My dad did the ball drop in the early 80s when it was kinda sketch to say the least, but that sounded better than what it is now to me.

Yeah, alot of confusion around ghost kitchens VS this.

I like to think of it like a diffusion line, it just takes up more "shelf" space in the app or tries to entice people to order from someplace "new" that they would've never ordered from otherwise. I hate them.

I've gotten the Xi'an Famous Foods kit to make hand pulled noodles, would highly recommend. They have that weird cactus powder that makes things stretchy & is hard to get in the US
