The handful of interactions I’ve had or seen, mostly gives a vibe a lot of the force still thinks it’s the bad old days of the 90s. Petty theft stuff never gets anywhere (it took 6 weeks to file the damn report, I don’t need you to solve it just a report number for an insurance claim!), but on the other hand they let most things go (for better or worse)

NY also has a class of license that is cheaper, but you can only serve NY state produced beer & wine. Would love to see that support of NJ businesses. (They also give tax credits to producers who use a certain percentage of ingredients produced by NY state farmers).

Meanwhile the license lobby in NJ is tossing fits because breweries are having events and maybe coordinate with a food truck, how dare they offer a nice experience! When they are pulling shit like that and talking about their license as ‘investment assets’ and can get loans based on their value (of a government controlled/restricted/manufactured ‘asset’), it’s gotta be time for change. As long as they don’t pull a taxi medallion too hard and let things cushion down, I’m all for the change

It at least tried to have a somewhat original architectural idea/create a vibe.

I still feel like 99 hudson is kinda boring, and the somewhat unique thing about it (the detailing towards the top/break in the windows) feels unfinished or somehow lacking a detail to bring it all together/make sense more visually. I'd rather someone try a big swing and end up with something have a feeling on either way

The JC location dropped hare within like 1 month of opening. There are probably a few dudes with the skills to manage the unique pies, and/or the ability to care. And if you want a simple plain or pepperoni slice, there is no point in getting that from Toney Baloney's.

Making it clear to folks, in case it sounds like I'm an apologist: It is NOT a recommend

I wouldn't hate on them that hard. I wanted to hate them so bad, but was genuinely surprised with the quality when they first opened in JC (expensive, but some unique things & great for something different as a treat). When that opening HQ crew left things dropped, and at that price point I don't risk lack of consistency. Anyone I know who has gone recently has declared them straight bad
