There are times where it snows up high & the state hasn't had time to respond. Speed had nothing to do with it.

The signs are often still on when the Notch is closed

This is the best way to find out when it is closed. They have been known to close it and reopen it the next day.

This doesn't mean that it's safe. Have had some white knuckle drives through it.

3 cheers for her boyfriend. He was quick thinking and brave. Not sure what I would have done in that situation.

I am guessing this is not over with. Bears attacking people is extremely rare.
This is the kind of stuff that happens when there are too many bears.

I am for keeping dogs on leashes in most circumstances but I disagree with you here.
Most people with a yard (in a rural area) and a dog that won't take off, will let their dog out to do it's business. I always did. Granted my dogs were medium sized dogs. After my dogs did their business, they were anxious to get back in to be with us.
I am not advocating letting your dog roam.
Even the game warden did say put your dog on a leash.
Game warden Kyle Isherwood said: “Before letting pets out at night, I would urge Vermonters to light their yards and make plenty of noise to allow wildlife in the area time to move on.”

So we should only complain about or discuss things, that cause us harm or damage?
To me this is like a saying we got 2' of snow when we only got 4".

November is an interesting month in Vermont. The weather can be very volatile which can limit your activities. I live here, so I have all my stuff and lots of things that need fixing. On a vacation, it could be like the Sienfeld where Jerry wants to "take his relationship to the next level"

Not all tall vehicles are long. Not all tractor trailers are tall.

Vermont is not an easy place to make friends. People assume it is but it isn't. Especially the older you get. If you don't have old friends and are old, you are screwed.
