Seems lucky you went 2 years without getting a zone ticket. You need to square up the reg, etc for both cars & get permits, or pay for off-street parking, or risk getting more tickets.

Horrible take.

And while this article does have some reporting, I think I trust Open Space Institute's judgement that this can be a viable project more than Wheeler Antabanez and M’ke Helbing.

Notably the piece doesn't include comment / reaction to its premise from anyone at OSI or the groups that have been advocating for the project.

Drivers are cold! they've got to hustle extra to get where they're going. Don't be an asshole and block them by crossing the street on your miserable feet.

I think a lot of folks in this sub would say Greenville (Cator Ave's neighborhood) is a "bad area." I'm not in Greenville, but not too far away - and my perception is that it's JC's least-gentrified neighborhood, with some pockets of long-time residents who look after each other and do a nice job maintaining their property, and other pockets that are sketchy with drug / gang activity.

If you and your wife have lived in urban areas before and are comfortable with that kind of mix - yeah, consider it. Otherwise, something in the Heights, Westside, or Bergen-Lafayette might be a better fit.

100% this. Any plastic packaging that was going to go in the garbage now goes in the garbage full of cat turds & litter piss balls.

Trying to cut down on our plastic packaging intake, but it will be a while before there's not enough to handle litterbox duties.

Jeez, folks around here are quick with their downvotes.

I remember the old-old place from my early days in JC / mid-90s. No idea why it was called "Newport" as it predated the mall. Smaller, shabby building - but same family, great food, great value. I think it closed at 2 pm or something like that?

I also recall a controversy in which the city wanted to take the land by eminent domain in order to create a parking lot for teachers... maybe for the not-yet-built Conwell School? There was a stink & that plan was withdrawn. Maybe some other old-timers can confirm / add some detail on that history?

My understanding is that in JC, if you have a legal driveway that is blocked, you can call PA to ticket the vehicle. Subsequent to that, if your vehicle is blocked in the driveway, PA will call a tow for the offending vehicle. If you're trying to get into your driveway, they won't tow.

Source: neighbors with driveways who've done this (happily I haven't had this happen with my own driveway).
