DT880 Pros were my first pair of hifi headphones. I can't be bothered to pick them up since I've gone to planars. The DT 880s really do have this really high treble that I believe would be worse if any dampening material is to be removed. The bass is very flat but overall have a nice balance compared to mid centric HD600s.

Maybe just change out the grill itself to an more open one.

oh yeah I was wondered that too.

Using Amazon's ranked number of a Hifiman Sundara within the category of electronics, Scopes estimates 3090 of them are sold per month.

Given that Hifiman have multiple lines of cheap headphones and that they operate around the world. I think millions could very well be the case.

LOL you guys realize Hifiman probably sell millions of headphones while Audeze sells maybe in the tens of thousands.

I daily Sundara and Monolith M1060C and M1070s. This 'build' quality issue is blown out of proportions.

Most of us wouldn't of gotten to try planar without those 2 companies...

I'm actually very grateful to them as they've changed the industry for good. Look at 3 year old reviewer comparison videos, they'd often go from $300 to $800 then to couple of thousand dollar headphones.

Now we can experience all sorts of planar well below $300s range. That's entry level price.

Realize majority of Americans make less than $50k. And you really come to understand cheap Chinese headphones likely make up the majority of new listeners in this hobby.

If the headphone upgrade in sound isn’t enough, then buying further would be worse.

You have enough mW to drive the headphone already. You could try a discrete amp like Schiit Asgard 3. It should widen the sound stage a bit and provide warmer/thicker sound.

Not sure if you’d think spending another $300 is worth it though. 😂

I’d suggest give it a few days. When you’ve adjusted your M50X for so long.

If anything, I think you’d rather like V shape planar. Same clarity and separation but with emphasis on bass. M1060C/1070C should do the trick for much cheaper.

Yeah man they’re real. Love affordable quality. Cheap Amazon cables are amazing đŸ€©.

There’s more choices now that there’s custom wrapped cables produced for the masses from over seas.

Isn’t it weird how you like Custom wrapped cables that cost $50-120 for no perceived sound quality yet you would call it “sound betta” for people that are willing to spend THE SAME AMOUNT of $$ for perceived quality?

If you’re really for NO SOUND quality in cables, then there’s no point in paying some American $$ to wrap the same $ cables from overseas.

Too many people in this sub in promote these expensive cables from companies like Periaptcables, and then absolutely sh1ts on anyone who would spend the same $$ if did it for perceived sound quality.

Hmm đŸ€” all of my cables are $15-25 from Amazon. Mainly they’re labeled as 6N OFC or something.

But recently I got to try something “pure silver”. Somebody was selling this used French X-Symphony cable for $20 on eBay so I grabbed it.

I’ll tell ya this. I use it on my M1060C(planar) and it might of provided maybe a 1-3 extra reverbs on some piano keys or guitar plucks, and that’s if I was really trying to be picky.

I’m so glad 😃 I haven’t been missing out on anything. Love ❀ them Amazon cables.

It’s probably a form of self prescribed music therapy. đŸ€Ș

But do go outside to take some walks if you noticed you’re glued to your headphones for more than 6 hours or something I guess. ⛅

oh god...

I've had a rather dark childhood but with really rich schools so the comparisons are drastic.

I went to school with super rich kids in long island. Like imagine a parking lot of convertibles. Some of the kids were clearly kids of CEOs and whatever. Like imagine wearing Rolex in high school. At this time I didn't have time to sleep properly as I've had to rush to work after school and would get home around 12 midnight. Used my last period (calculus) to sleep. And I snored like aMF, so I guess the whole class felt the brunt of my shit.

I think I'm the darkest thing that ever existed, but wasn't too quiet about it, so maybe something like a DT1990 but cheaper so DT990. Very self aware and reflective and had nuanced ideas about dire situations. Friends would say I'm the best at dealing with emergencies. So I like to think my ideas had somewhat of clarity in them that they're not muddy like the M50X.

-I have a very deep voice that surprised the unsuspecting, and when used forcefully could fill the room with a monstrous shout that would frighten any monster. Although tall I was scrawny, so I guess I wish I had muscles. --I think of it as lacking bass

-just like the headphone, might have some redeeming factors, but sibilant to just about everyone mostly because I had too much problems back home so I couldn't care for much.

Sound cutting off? Even with a separate Dac amp stack? Are the cables okay?

Perhaps you’re recording or live streaming and the sound source is switching around?

By the way, what is that long bar at the back? Is that a sound bar?
