I loved wandering around in Spags as a kid. Those tight aisles were fun. Whole place had a cool vibe. My dad always let me go get a Matchbox or Hot Wheels car from the big bin if we went into the main store.

I know a lot of No on 4 folks. I'm not that surprised it was close even though I expected it to pass.

General reason always given is: "They're illegal, they shouldn't be here in the first place - don't give them an incentive to stay". I don't agree with that position, but that's the one I'm familiar with.

Have you ever lived somewhere where the temperate can consistently be below freezing and there can be more than a dusting of snow?

  1. Buy a warm heavy coat.
  2. Buy some boots. A lot of people will say get proper snow boots, but I like just waterproofed work boots with good tread.
  3. It's perfectly acceptable to drink Dunk's Iced Coffee when the temperature is 10 degrees and the windchill is making it feel like -10.
  4. Layers are your friend.

Edit: If you have a car and you don't know how to to drive in sleet or snow, stay off the fucking road.

It's walkable but only a few areas are pedestrian friendly. The places that people think of as traditionally "Boston" (Fenway, Back Bay, South End, Chinatown, DTX etc) are pedestrian friendly. The rest of it is not and there's a lot of land and people in those areas. How familiar are you with the rest of Boston? Walk past Mass Ave. sometime into Roxbury or head out to Roslindale or Mattapan and see how pedestrian friendly it is for yourself...
