If you're concerned about getting laid off, no, I wouldn't relocate.

The area's not nearly as cheap as it used to be, and has very few of the benefits you'd be used to in a larger city.

When I was looking for somewhere to volunteer a couple years back, the city had a bajillion options. You could basically work anywhere from the offices to the parks to the zoo to the ice rink.

Rana pasta microwave meals. They're a little pricey but oh so good. Quick to make, too.

Those refrigerated meat things at Aldi. Like the Carnitas or Hawaiian Chicken or whatever. I microwave a bag of veggies, a pack of couscous or something, and those. It's like 10 minutes to make.

A bagged salad with leftover chicken or steak, or those steak or chicken strips. We add an avocado usually and some cherry tomatoes. Sometimes some garlic bread or something, sometimes not.

Neighbor's Mill if you're on the southside. It's under $20 for 2 of us.
