What? You will just be living your life? Does it matter to remember what happened 100 years ago? You will remember core memories and create everything around at given time. What is with this problem of living extra long lives? I really cant understand your arguments about it.

The main difference in human vs AGI is fact that we are animals. We are adapted to live in certain conditions to produce more offsprings and to keep our species alive. AGI dont need that, therefore it dont need to adapt as fast to change in enviroment, to protect itself. It doesnt need to look for food, shelter, urinate etc. Complex system like AGI will be different than human yet also very similiar. But if we are talking about AGI like 1:1 human copy then absolutly not.

No one of course. Never said that this belief in unqueationed, jusr said that survival of the fittest long ago was a predictor of sucesfull species. If we stagnate we wont adapt and will just fall of the train. Now it may be something else than technology but i personally see only technology, yoy can show me otherwise.

Let me ask the question the opposite way, what is then? Its similar to democracy, not the best overall but best we have. Im not defensive and I may be absolutly wrong. But I see no other option that is at least scienitificaly proven.

Of course its not but point is to develop further not to stay in place and birth children like animals for bilions of years. Big tech have its flaws, Facebook is terrible but it is a price for development, unfortunately. I will also way more like to have it controlled and channeled into one, good for all humanity direction.

It is mechanism of genes? Of course we are different species and you cant 1:1 transfer it to mammals but you can tweak our biology into it. Check dr Levin work on regeneration in species that dont posses ability to regenerate limbs. By this I meant it is possible because it occurs in nature.
Nature choose one of two ways, either producing offspring or immortality and I absolutly prefer immortality. We can do it, it is not against biology or physics so its just a matter of time.
Work? Study? Watch? Play video games? Read? Exercise? I dont really need much. There will always be new tasks, new things to study, new series to watch, new games to beat, new books to read and keeping in shape is always going. Absolutly want to do it for as long as I want. If I decide it is time for me and Im already bored then always you can go euthanasia.

Oh boy, and in future sun will burn out. Nothing is certanity so why aging should be? There are immortal animals which dont age so its not something out of natural world.

There are good articles on lesswrong that analyze why AGI is something that is coming at exponential rate. My background is psychology, and even in my field last 5 years mentioned topics like machine emotional intelligence and how to apply it, work with it and adapt to humans.

Reply to Prediction: De-facto Pure AGI is going to be arriving next year. Pessimistically in 3 years. by Ace_Snowlight
Thats a tough question. There is still too much to solve to say that AGI will come next year. Scaling current models isnt enough to achieve general intelligence, there are many aspects we still lack like awarness, inner dialouge, desires, plans and all that stuff. Machine emotional intelligence is a topic no one really talking about and is a important part of overall intelligence.
Currently I think thst scaling up models will bring astonishing glimpse of what AI can be, models that are hundreds times better than human but in narrow way. Then solving obstacles in the way, 10 years at least untill AGI arrives.

Of course, some even now show that online therapy benefice them more than real life one.
What? Deepfakes are already a thing, its absolutly not a difficult problem to artifical made face to talk with you.
Like I said, only bias would be people, which wouldnt like to speak with AI just because they dont want, even if that AI is way better and succesfull in therapy.
Of course its not only about words, but you can still mimic that. Humans are basically biological computers so its nothing strange that we will build better computers that we already are.
Mokebe890 t1_izwo3w1 wrote
As a major in psychology and working in tech, studying CS I disagree. Caruso in 2019 wrote about machine emotional intelligence and psychology field already discuss and think about how to apply our emotions into machines.
Chatgpt already can answer basic psychological help. Therapies works because they are structulazied on how to help, how respond and how to guide, especially behavioral one. If therapy follows steps then AI also can do it. The only problem will be the human bias that dont want to interact with AI. But it will also change, when more and more AI will be.

Interesting take. What if they just dont focus on this besides military possibilities? Literally they only care about being the strongest. Somehow following everything that happens its bold to say nothing will change. If things change faster, and indeed we're developing faster and faster, I dont see why wouldnt we have massive changes.
