I read somewhere they will no longer have the fish fry. Too bad too because it was excellent. Same family who bought the bakery, Father and Sons. They have a habit of opening business' that only stick around for a few years and then they go onto something else.

This house in Mt Lebanon was owned by John Bazzano, he was a local mob boss who was ultimately killed by an ice pick in NYC. Found this by accident researching the house!

House is in pic 9 here, his casket is being removed from the house after the viewing:

I remember going to La Prima one time on a Sunday and the outdoor seating was being used be actual local mobsters. Speaking Italian and shit, with goon body guards standing around. It was surreal. This was many years ago though and some of these guys looked old as hell then.

To add, the park practically touches Highwood Cemetery which is a beautiful old cemetery with a lot of character. Highwood borders Uniondale Cemetery which has a presence on both sides of Brighton Road and just as beautiful as Highwood.

No longer a conspiracy as it's been proven true. But a gun shop that sat in the woods above Thompson Run and Babcock Boulevard was run by a family that were deep into the Nazi party. I went there once with my dad when I was about 13 to visit the gun shop, I remember the buildings looked like something you'd imagine seeing in Bavaria. There was even a private air strip on the land that was supposedly used to fly special interests in for clandestine meetings:

The William Oliver room is a special collections room in an off-limits area of the library's stacks. People wanting to do research there must apply and make an appointment. They'd then be escorted by security to the locked door where Greg Priore would greet them. Greg would oversee the visits and of course the collection itself as there are many items that are valuable or rare or both. Greg was untouchable for many years and I think he was trusted too much. He and John from Caliban began selling items in addition to cannibalizing books for individual pages, they're horrible people. The room was under no surveillance, only Greg and security had a key to the room.

The storefront maintains a high profile presence a stone's throw from the institution that was robbed blind of irreplaceable items, it's a slap in the face. John was not a good person, he'd step over his dead mother for a 1st edition book.
