“Transit” (by Transit App, Inc, on the iOS store it’s green with a white sideways S) is the go-to for most people, it integrates schedules with real-time bus/T tracking and also lets you buy tickets you can scan as you board

Edit: it does look there are other options… there is no single “official” app for PRT

They managed to lose TWO of my city-issued recycling bins over the span of 2 or 3 recycling collections. There is evidently no mechanism for getting them replaced… good luck. I’ve tried.

It was reported by the Associated Press on the day of, and was republished by all the local news stations that rely on AP’s reporting to cover events like this

Google searching was only revealing the local stations’ republished versions so I dug deeper and found the original AP story

Sometimes I feel like this debate is comparing apples to oranges. They serve pretty different menus of stuff and which one you’ll prefer really depends on what you’re looking to eat.

I like living in the city of Pittsburgh so naturally I am cursed with a lack of Sheetz locations. However, I do generally prefer their “fried food” menu of garbage over Wawa’s more upscale/healthy menu, so I lean towards Sheetz in my own personal preference. I travel to Philly a lot though and I always stuff myself with Wawa while I’m there. Big fan of their buffalo mac & cheese. This is my unironic take.

That being said, I happily defend Sheetz to the death to participate in a good natured rivalry with eastern PA.

WAWA? MORE LIKE CACA, AM I RIGHT?? This is my ironic take.

FYI I got an email from SoFi letting me know that they're upping my savings APY to 3.0% (but requires DD from payroll). I'm assuming this is for everyone, but the email wasn't 100% clear

I would look into Series I Bonds from the Treasury. In exchange for some limitations on buying ($10k/yr maximum) and cashing them out (not possible until 1 year minimum), they’ll handily beat the return of a HYSA and will inflation-protect your money to ensure you don’t lose any buying power over that timespan.

Investing in the market over just a span of 4-5 years is risky and you’d have to contend with the fact that not only could your lump sum have less buying power - it could potentially be wholly less than you started with, depending on how the market performs

Good eye on the PNC signage. I noticed the bridge as well but the thing that tipped me off first was the fact that the 3 small fountains at the Point were running. Sadly I haven’t seen those operating all summer, for whatever reason

Remember when Buddy the Elf decorated a store for Christmas? And then sat on imposter-Santa’s lap and got in a fight with the manager that completely demolished half the store? Yeah that was a Gimbels

Supposedly they’re allowed to pay bills on behalf of the store but can’t personally profit from it. I get not wanting to shut the store down entirely but I still don’t trust them. They should have been forced to sell and I will never step foot in that store for as long as they’re involved, and probably a little while after that too.

Can anyone give me a single reason to patronize Caliban after the owner robbed $8M worth of irreplaceable books from the Carnegie Library and escaped with only 4 years of house arrest, 12 years of probation, and $55,000 in damages?

The observation about hills being unsightly is funny to me. Personally, I find the lack of hills to be horrible and completely soulless. When I’m in the Midwest and the sky meets the trees at eye-level 360 degrees around, I’m in my own personal hell. Nothing interesting about the landscape. Just flat nothingness. Like playing a Minecraft superflat world.

I was driving back the other day and somewhere in or around eastern Ohio or the western PA border, I realized the highway was starting to descend into a valley, and ahead I could see the first of the rolling hills characteristic of the fringes of Appalachia. I felt immediately at home. If I can’t see a hill or a valley, I’m not at peace
