The Amtrak Downeaster runs from Boston to southern Maine (Portland and beyond).

The Old Port (Portland) there can be pretty fun - good food and excellent beer. Freeport, ME has a bunch of outlet (shops) and gets Christmas-y enough.

If you happen to have car access, Portsmouth, NH has a similar central area and gets festive for Christmas.

The MSPCA is this way big time. It's a 75 minute rundown of their history, mission statements, a rundown of services, etc. That's all fine, bit that's 75 minutes that I could be in the back helping to help rake the back field and shovel up manure.

They have a chart with the number of residents in the property and the income thresholds re: benefit qualification. It might be worth a call to the service to understand how the nuances of your situation would work.

I avoid Hampton Beach like the plague in the summer, but in the fall and spring it's actually great for walking. Zero crowds and the folks that are there are chill.

The worst thing that'll happen is an off-leash dog will do some uninvited crotch sniffing.
