Strip clubs and vegan restaurants are no different than wine bars or fast food chicken sandwich restaurants. All of them only appeal to a portion of the population.

If the business owners at any of those places make strong political statements, they cut their customer base in half.

Yes, Chick-fil-A is thriving but I'd argue that they would be 2X thriving. I mean, half the country boycotts them.

This should come as no surprise. The lesson to be learned here is that business and politics don't mix well. When you alienate 50% of your potential customers, it's a recipe for failure.

Whether or not the law is on your side, the reality is: you're the new guy and you're disrupting a long established neighborhood in a small town. Nobody is going to take kindly to that -- including the judge, the zoning board, the neighbors, and the town residents.

Even if you win, you're going to lose. Not to mention the small fortune you'll pay in legal fees trying to fight this.

You are apparently new to the area. Don't ever expect right of way as a pedestrian. Drivers don't pay attention to crosswalks. You need to just wait until no cars are around to cross the street. And don't worry about jaywalking here. Cross the street anywhere you want.
