It really surprises me that humans would end their race this stupidly

This feels like something that would genuinely happen in a fever dream, They'd make a pipe wrench which will ruin everyone's lives and possibly end it in the coming years just for a few slips of paper. They could've helped end global warming, make people's lives better who are living poorly, find cures for diseases. But they'd rather work for years on a pipe wrench to make humanity obsolete, nice.

UK but same concept I guess. Most of the information kids get is from eachother unfortunately. And adults often don't exactly do enough to explain the situation to children very well even at funerals.

>most kids WOULD hear about mummies in the context of Ancient Egypt

Yes, very often in the same breath that says they are the bird god of the sun and that they are mummified so they can make their way to the realm of the jackal that is the god of the underworld. Then they hear about "the mummies curse" from friends. Then this information is relayed by a game of telephone.

Because the information is literally just higher quality.

> "our recent displays used the term 'mummified remains of...' and include the name (when known) of the person who has been mummified...[to emphasize] that mummified remains are of people who once lived."

Literally emphasizing that this is in fact the body of a king and not some weird supernatural creature because children and even some adults don't know it.

Also you'd probably not understand a word of English spoken in the seventh century. Here's Beowulf in the English from around that time:

If you're smaller than other studies and have a result that's contrary to other current research, you've got to look at other variables pretty hard. If that's the data you have, then that's the data you have, but you've gotta explain why your study is getting different results. You should be saying, BMI correlates poorly to those outcomes in XYZ situation.

Luddite has that definition now specifically as an insult based on the historical group who thought they could save their jobs by smashing machines defined as a person with a fear of advancement. It's not really a great example because this technology (that I work with) doesn't have the same kind of threat that those textile factories have. Natural language models might replace some call center workers in the same way prerecorded automated menus might, but the majority of jobs that a lot of clownspeople think will be replaced are under no real threat. These ML models and automatic looms are similar in their innovative ability, but unlike ML models, looms are actually consistent and their output can be relied upon.
