I have it. I did think it was food poisoning at first, but as it wore on, it felt more like a virus.

Started Thursday night. Came on really fast—like one moment I’m fine and then 10 seconds later the floor dropped out. No vomiting (though I really wanted to), but the bathroom stuff started yesterday afternoon.

I didn’t put 2 and 2 together OP, but one of my cats was ill over Christmas. Weird too. It’s not like goes and hangs out with other cats to get sick from. He didn’t touch his food for 2 days. Now I can fully sympathize.

I ride that route daily. Here’s what you do:

Use Google maps to find stops and routes.

When you get to a stop, look on the signpost for the blue square that has the stop number (ex: 1234). Text “GRTC 1234” to 228-27. You will receive a text back with the eta of each bus coming in the next hour.

Caveat: though the Cary/Main line used to run every 15 minutes, it’s now every 30 due to driver shortages. But some days they can’t get drivers for all of the buses, so that adds an element of unpredictability. Also traffic delays—especially around rush hour—can put things off schedule.

Most of the time things work well though and the text message will alert you if they aren’t. Sounds like you just got unlucky.

When it comes to my life, yes.

Seriously—any motorcyclist will tell you that even on a good day, it takes 2 hands to count the number of times some driver came within inches of killing you—often without even knowing it. It’s getting worse every year, too. Add to that the growing road rage and overall hostility people have behind the wheel and road safety becomes a very serious subject.

As it should be, by the way.

Do you make “facetious” comments about school shootings or yell fire in the theater when you’re not threatening to door slam cyclists on Reddit?

Yeah, but that general attitude does nothing but encourage the already reckless behavior out on the roads these days. As a potential victim of your threat, facetious or not, it comes off as very insensitive and not at all humorous.

You might be kidding, but a lot of folks out there aren’t.

Frustrating thing is, the bill might have a chance of it made it to the floor, but it gets killed in committee every year.

Local delegate Betsy Carr is on the transpo committee. Email her, tell her you’re a Richmonder, and ask her to vote for the bill to allow motorcycle filtering.

So…you want to murder people for traffic infractions?

I am a cyclist and a motorcyclist and I care a great deal about the rules of the road. I wish I could say the same for car, SUV, and truck drivers weaving bc they’re texting, failing to use their turn signals, going slow in the passing lane, driving in the rain without headlights, following too close, and the hundreds of other outright dangerous things I see drivers do just about every time I ride.

Be careful about using broad stokes to paint a class of people. You’re wrong more than you’re right.

Given that half of the experience is the costumed parade-watchers, I’d say the further into Oregon Hill you are, the more fun you’ll have. The parade goes down Laurel and back up Pine. I like to hang out at Albemarle & Laurel, watch it go past, then walk up to Pine and watch it again in front of the church.

It then all winds up behind the church and turns into a big party.
