Had a clear view of it from Lakeside. I figured out a long time ago that if I go stand in the middle of my street and look east (as the street is perfectly aligned to the east) within 30 seconds of launch I can see them over the horizon, and got to see this one for about a minute...

I'm guessing that you have a heat pump or some other form of electric heat, and this bill may cover the days when the artic blast hit before Christmas. When it gets that cold out, heat pumps will struggle to keep the temperature up, and will kick on the Emergency/Aux Electric Resistant Heat, and depending on the size of that E/Aux heat, it can consume a massive amount of power. I should be getting my bill any day now that covers that time, and I'm not looking forward to it...

They're also playing at The Lyric in Baltimore on June 1st. Still my favorite time seeing them was after Conditions of My Parole was released. I happened to be in Portland OR when their tour stopped there, and the entire show was just them playing songs and doing comedy skits, which was freakin' amazing. The second leg of their tour stopped in Richmond a few months later and I took my buddy, but it was a standard tour format with a few opening bands, but none of the skits. Still had a great time though...

I do not, but if you really want to surprise someone, R. L. Stine will be speaking at the Dominion Energy Center (a.k.a Richmond CenterStage) next Monday, the 23rd as part of the Poe Museum Centennial Celebration. If you play your cards right, you might be able to get him to sign some copies if they have any sort of meet-and-greet...

I don't think anyone in this subreddit would be surprised at this, Joe isn't exactly the best at hiding his shenanigans...

...Heck, I have a friend who interned at the State capital several years back and she had to constantly ward off his sleazeball tactics and advances.

Edit: Surprised, not suppressed, all though Joe would probably like this to be suppressed...

Well, hopes once again dashed to see one out here, I'll just have to keep my eyes open when visiting family up north. But I'm glad your kitties didn't get to it, as they are such neat creatures. Fortunately, when you see one, there are usually more around, so keep your eyes open and enjoy!

Awesome! Haven't seen any in the RVA in the 17 years I've been here. Growing up in NoVA, our house backed up to parkland and we'd see 'em all the time flying in the trees, or occasionally when one of our cats was able to grab one for a snack. Fortunately, that was rare for her to catch them, as she and our other two primarily focused on mice...

Good question. The melting point on the low end of PVC plumbing overlaps temperature of boiling water. 99% of the time, the contact with the boiling water is so brief it won't be a problem. But, if that water gets stopped by a clog somewhere down the line, the prolonged exposure to the hot water can cause the plumbing to become warped. Most (but not all) PVC P traps are formulated with a PVC version that can handle temperatures above boiling water, but I have come across a couple that didn't survive over the years, with the first one happening to me which led me down the rabbit hole to find out why it's not a good idea to just pour boiling water down the drain.

Honestly, I can't remember, and been racking my brain since I first posted. It was about 8 or 9 years ago by now and will probably come to me when I least expect it. The one parody line that still sticks with me is "The South Butt" that got snuffed out by The North Face. From what I remember about that one is they gave him an out through a settlement, but the dude almost immediately violated that settlement agreement and got burned...

Yup, if you're plumbing is older and you misuse the garbage disposal, you will be seeing a plumber again. It may not be this year, it may not be next, but shredding things like potato skins, carrots, meats, and other fibrous things can eventually clog up your plumbing, and most of the store-bought drain cleaners won't do squat to it (and in /r/plumbing they'll shut you down if you ask about using them). Another favorite for plumbers is the moist butt wipes, most of 'em don't break down as well as you think in real world conditions...

...also, if you have PVC plumbing, never pour boiling water directly into the sink, and instead run cold water with it.

Edit: OP, if you do get one, you'll also need an electrician, as they'll have to run a new circuit from the electrical panel to the sink for the garbage disposal. They need to be on their own dedicated breaker.

All I can afford right now is to wish Noah luck, as this is going to be an uphill battle. From all of the trademark lawsuits that I've read over the past two decades, ranging from small breweries to clothing, I think only one was successful in arguing that their logo was different enough that the case was tossed, and that 'C' style they're using has been trademarked by Cleveland baseball since 1915. Even the companies that argued fair use under parody exceptions have failed in each of the cases I've read about...

...so, here's hoping that Noah and Charged become the 2nd case I'm following that will succeed...

The county does own several pieces of road paving equipment, you can seem them sometimes coming out of our going into the DPW facility off of Woodman. They'll also use their backhoes, front loaders, and other heavy equipment to clear the roads after a snowstorm. When they installed the new sewer system in Lakeside though, they contracted that out and the company that did it did not have any Henrico stickers on their vehicles, and the paving equipment was different than what I've seen the county use. The contractor did, however, manage to pave over each of the manhole covers, which the county had to come out and fix with their trucks...

I had a problem like that where one of my legs (wires) was dropping down to around 70 volts instead of 120. Turned out that the meter socket had gone bad and had a poor connection, and it was a contributing factor in killing my heat pump. I had an electrician buddy pull the permits, have the power company disconnect service line at the transformer located at the telephone pole, he installed the new meter box, and then had everything turned back on. After that I replaced the heat pump since it was well past its lifespan. For his work, it just cost me my time to help him rebuild a motor.

The first step is you should call Dominion, they are responsible for the step-down transformer at the pole and line going into your meter box, and if you're lucky the problem will be on their end. If it's your meter socket, or breaker panel, you're going to need an electrician. Be warned though: HVAC equipment is very sensitive with low voltage and can be damaged when attempting to run with it. And most of the other electronics, like TV's and computers don't like low voltage either.

Good luck...

I have to say it warms my heart that you finally have a doctor that listened to you and got you that MRI scan to set you on the path to get better. I don't have any advice, other than to take it easy and stick to your recovery plan to a T, but you will be fine, as I've known several people who've had the surgery and their lives have become 1000% better. Have a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah, and a speedy recovery! 2023 is already looking to be a better year for you ;)

As many others here have said, you can get most of the local channels with a cheap antenna. I went a little overkill, and installed a 7-foot antenna in my attic with a rotator. I can punch in the degree of a transmitter for the station I'm interested in and it'll move the antenna so that it points to it, and with a booster I can pick up channels from NoVA, Charlottsville, Virginia Beach, and parts of North Carolina, but these are the outliers and if the atmospheric conditions aren't right, it comes in and out, which can be quite annoying...

...but yes, a cheap antenna should do you well for the local channels.

If you're using fiberglass insulation, make sure to wear long sleeves and gloves, those glass fibers are itchy when they imbed themselves in your skin. A mask would be a good idea too. And make sure you only stand on the joists, anything else and you'll find yourself in the room below.

You may want to put an order in for at Lowes or the Home Depot sooner rather than later because a lot of people like to tackle these projects over the weekend, and you might want to have it delivered, especially if you have a large attic because it takes up a lot of space. Overall, you should notice big improvements in having your attic insulated...

Good luck!
