Wether they want it or not is irrelevant because for the vast majority of Millenials and Zoomers it isn’t attainable.

What? Valet should rarely be an option in the city. End encouraging auto centric development.

That’s because Lee’s Pint and shell did theirs without permits and they were illegal. I know this because I was with the two women from the city who issue/approve the parklets looking at O’Donnell square. When I mentioned the one at Lees and said it was posing a problem for the busses who use that route, they said they didn’t apply for a parklet and immediately walked up to check it out. Eventually they were forced to take it down.

Parking spaces bring in $0/sqft and make the area less livable for the people that actually live there.

Blair’s on Hudson (Canton) does dirty water dogs for weekend lunch now. Like 11-2 on sat and Sunday. Good rotating flavors.

The density of sky scrapers is great for tax base though. Mixed use sky scrapers is the way to go.

I don’t think so. That was largely driven by the systemic destruction of public transit and the federal govt building sh*t tons of car first infrastructure. The younger generations aren’t big fans of cars in general and don’t get sucked into car culture like Boomers did.

Yeah they designed that intersection to minimize foot traffic and push cars through as fast as possible. They removed a crosswalk iirc. :-/

Unfortunately Annabel Lee will probably be closed by April. The owner is selling and has an offer.

That’s what you’re worried about? The color? It’s eye catching, which is good, because so many motorists are too busy paying attention to other things like their phones or radios.

Amsterdam started shifting to a bike and pedestrian centric transit method 30-40 years ago when they were going bankrupt from car centric infrastructure. Automobile centric infrastructure is a MAJOR drain on resources as road user taxes and fees are a drop in the bucket compared to the true cost for road building and maintenance. If the US were just able to print how much ever currency they wanted, we’d be in the same boat as the Netherlands. This doesn’t even take into account the environmental impact cars and heavy trucks have (regardless of propulsion.)

I’d rather they put a rail line down York/Greenmount, but BRT would definitely help the people along the corridor.

Make it functional by expediting rides/improving transit time. People will ride if it’s a faster option.

Parkville, less crime? My mom lives there and I’m on their local FB page, that’s iffy. There have been multiple swat raids across the street from her in apartments in the last couple of years. She’s trying to move because of crime there increasing.

According to that map the big problem block is actually part of the Patterson park neighborhood. But that GIS map is kinda odd. It has a Patterson Park and a Patterson Park Neighborhood section. I was pretty sure the Highlandtown Neighborhood association covered the first block of Leverton (the one I’m talking about, the 3200 block, to the west of Highland.)

Somewhat. That’s not something you’d say for Roland Park or Canton or Fells or Fed Hill though. Most of Highlandtown is fine but a handful of streets are still issues. Many of these are made up of mostly rentals.

At the very least you’ll find in a neighborhood like canton or fed or fells, you’ll park your car on Friday night and rarely move it until Monday morning. Most places on the weekend you’ll walk to (or scoot or bike) and giving up your parking spot is a risky proposition on the weekend. Owning two cars for one person isn’t really conducive to city living in a lot of Baltimore tbh. You may want to see if you can leave one car at a relatives or something if it’s just an occasional drive or collectible vehicle. We have a 48 hour rule in Baltimore city, where your car must move every 48 hours or it can be ticketed, so parking a seldom used vehicle on the street for storage will likely end up with tickets.

Parking enforcement was forced to lay off a few employees during Covid. They can hire in a way that police can’t.
