The family Thanksgiving knocked it all out actually, but we did a private household second meal on Friday of just a stupid gluttonous feast of our favorite foods. Duck breast, lobster tails, mashed potato/parsnips, roasted carrots, cocktail shrimp ring, mulled wine...

I could almost... almost get over the spit. Almost. but the idea that my donut dollars went to sexually exploiting a barely legal teen employee and I had no idea? never again. ian kelly is a lowlife

Who's surprised that low cost (now free) rapid transit in a busy urban corridor is popular? The article doesn't mention.

Working and wishing I had taken today off like almost everyone else on my team did. Feeling pretty shaken up on the eve of the holiday, will be travelling for Thanksgiving near Chesapeake tomorrow. I just don't feel safe anywhere anymore.

That makes a lot of sense, you're right! The whole situation is a little bizarre to me.

It is WILD to me that this group that claims to be distantly related, but not descended, from Hill are petitioning to have his remains STAY in that dumbass roundabout. If I was even slightly related and cared I'd want them moved to the cemetery already agreed on

We are a tidy and efficient Thanksgiving family. We convene to eat a giant lunch with all the normal fixins and then we all go back to our respective homes and nap.

As cool as Billy was I was locked onto the standup bass player. One of the most entertaining performers I've seen in ages

Still can't get over that Billy Strings show! I was aware of him mostly because he played a set with Tommy Emmanuel but I didn't know anything about his live performances. Ended up with a pit ticket the morning of and I'm now a solid convert.

Thanksgiving my spouse & I are doing a round two of a very simple but absurdly delicious duck breast recipe from Hank Shaw. Doing kind of a 'surf and turf' theme with those paired with lobster tails and a bunch of usual Thanksgiving-y sides. Highly recommend this method if anyone wants a taste of duck without dealing with the whole bird.

I read dense non-fiction for work purposes for a long time and it sucked the joy out of reading for many years. I turned to sci-fi and fantasy and found the escapism wonderful.
Also, audiobooks! Depending on your reading pace you may find you are able to consume more of a book in shorter time that way.

There's a neat short documentary about John Dabney, the formerly enslaved man who became one of the most in demand bartenders and restaurant owners in Richmond. He was very well known for his take on the mint julep, The Hailstorm, and is partially credited with elevating the drink to a more sophisticated crowd.

Also echoing that I'm jealous of you experiencing this for the first time! I got Misery from a yard sale when I was like, 12. It scared me to my core and it still pops into my head all these years later. His most frightening book, imo- the claustrophobia and panic of it is palpable.
