The Clarendon Gorge in Shrewsbury on the AT is a can't miss. Even if you don't hike there, the suspended bridge is right off - and I mean right off - Route 103, about 10 minutes from Rutland. If you want to stay at a super cool hiker hotel, I recommend the Inn at Long Trail (best Guinness in VT). Deer's Leap is right there and you can get a great view with a short hike.

I'm an Independent. A real one. And guess what? It's my vote that matters in a purple state like New Hampshire. The closer a candidate is to the middle - whatever the party - is who I vote for. And right now, the Republican candidates that are in my district, Bolduc and Leavitt, are far-right wingnuts. Don't love the Dems at all, but that's who I have to vote for as they're closer to the middle (read: reasonable). And for that reason, the Dems will win in NH. Plain and simple.

No dude. The rescue and wardens were for some kid who twisted an ankle. That's what the guy running the ambulance said. There was a school group, too, that was having issues. One girl was wearing crocs. I couldn't believe it.

BTW, remember this?

I think they should get billed for the chopper, personally.

Pretty confident it's not permanent. We saw 'em Saturday, so we figure they probably did it for the weekend. Someone got hurt (not one of those guys) and we passed several wardens and rescue people going up to the lake portion, so if it was illegal or something, I'm pretty sure the wardens would do something about it. Doubt very highly it's illegal.

Really good article. It's some scary shit, though. I use trails all the time and every once in a while I'll see a tent. Mixed feelings on it because the only guy I knew that lived in a tent did so as he was down on his luck after a divorce. He went to work every day and, after a while, ended up finding an apartment. Pretty bad ass living in a tent in a NH winter. Other side of that coin is what this was - a bloodthirsty drifter with no regard for human life.

Dude, you're not even here yet and you're dissing ManchVegas??? Step off, bro. Manchester is like an ugly sister; we can make fun of her but she's off limits to outsiders.
