My only gripe with these plans is that nothing ever comes of them or they duplicate existing plans or plan already sitting in development hell. Here are some transit projects/improvements in Northern New Jersey I would personally love to see. There are more things I would like to see of course, but I limited this list to the areas mentioned in this circular rail plan.

1. Better weekend service on the MOBO, i.e improved frequency and extension of the Bay Street-Hoboken Shuttle.
2. Improvements to Waterfront Connection to allow for more trains on NJ Transit's Newark Division to serve Hoboken Terminal. Hoboken Terminal is an underutilized asset. I would personally love to see all rush hour and weekend Raritan Valley Line trains terminate/originate at Hoboken Terminal when slots are not available at NY Penn. Construction of the Hunter Flyover would aide operational flexibility to better enable this.
3. Finally constructing the long awaited Northern Branch extension of the HBLR.
4. Extending the NLR to Paterson
5. Union County Bus Rapid Transit.
6. Bergen County BRT
7. Passaic-Bergen LRT project.

The 72 and 74 are long bus rides for non-NYC buses.

As rough as we'll have it, other places we'll get it much worse.

We're on a Pennsylvania Railroad train heading timetable west out of Newark Penn Station.

I know I provided a comment about better weekend service among other things on a recent rider survey.

Bingo. Historic preservation isn't a bad thing but when they start to view their own communities as personal fiefdoms, then they have lost the plot entirely.

That is correct. However, that bus pass will be valid on any NJ Transit bus route for up to that many zones. So not only can you use it on your normal bus to PABT but you can also use it on any local NJ Transit bus lines. Additionally, a bus pass of two zones or more will be valid on all NJ Transit light rail lines like the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.

A monthly/weekly bus pass of two zones or more is also valid for use on all NJ Transit light rail lines too.

I'd also notify NJ Transit just in case since the signal should be interlocked with the HBLR system.

That is true unfortunately.

To be fair there are various ways to approach reparations. Doesn't have to be direct payment, it could also be done through broader societal investments in education, housing, ability to establish small business, etc

When I took the train to Port Jervis last May, there were quite a number of people on that train with hiking gear.

In the Spring when the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom I'd recommend taking the PATH to Newark and taking the Newark Light Rail to Branch Brook Park. The Newark Light Rail has four stops bordering the west side of the park. Branch Brook Park map

You can also take the train to Millburn, the Millburn station stop is right next to South Mountain Reservation. I also enjoy walking around Montclair, there are a plenty of stores, restaurants and cafes to check out.

I was able to find space on a Saturday afternoon during the Summer.

As an aside, this photo is excellent with the lighting and composition imo.

Also inconvenient if you don't work a normal 9am-5pm shift.

Nj Transit has the same policy. It's printed in their timetables.

That's only if you don't purchase a ticket prior to boarding and the conductor asking for your ticket. Obviously if you tried to buy a ticket at a station's ticket vending machines and they weren't working, they'd waive the fee.
