Fentanyl is a problem because Purdue Pharmaceutical got a ton of people addicted to Oxycontin and then the government suddenly shut the faucet off making the problem almost instantly worse. There was not enough heroin to supply the US addiction needs So it was "fortified" with fentanyl. It soon became clear how much cheaper it was and the profit and ease of transportation. China may use it as a 'weapon' but they don't have to. Mexico, the middle east, criminals and psychopaths the world over just for greed of money and power would do it. Our own CIA directly sold cocaine and started the crack epidemic in this country. China became a problem because businesses were more than happy to exploit workers and slaves all over for greater profit at the cost of their own countries and people. Fentanyl is here and not going anywhere anytime soon, even if China made none of it. We have a huge market for drugs here and it will always be filled by greedy people.

Half the time the buses where I am are standing room only. I'm not in a big city either, maybe 50k. They are used by and a lot of people who are dependent on it.

I don't trust the state nor juries enough to not murder innocent people. We can let people out of prison, we can't take them back out of the hole in the ground.
I also oppose it on regular moral grounds as well. Once locked up a person is not a threat to society any longer so its clearly not about protecting society at that point.
I do hope they catch this guy soon.

So are you saying your ok with abortion for rape/incest and mothers health but nothing else?
Do you not believe abortion is murder? How does who the father is change that? Either you believe its murder or it isnt?
Im pro choice and consistent or should I say pro-choice and honest?

They painted themselves in the corner on this. If they want to claim abortion is murder they can't very well claim that it doesn't count just because the father was/is a rapist/cousin...
I'm Pro-choice. If they claim any exception but medical is ok then they are contradicting their abortion is murder claim. So I wonder what part they are lying about? Reminds me of when I heard Roe Vs Wade was settled, by a Republican, only to overturn it.

If no one else runs and almost all the Republicans voted for you, to within a couple percent of Bobs total I would say that would count as support.

He got almost all the votes that Bob did. He may have lost but the Republicans voted for him. Less than a 50k different between The total number of votes for him and total for Bob.

They didn't run anyone in his place, they accepted him.
Dominic Rapini got over 40% of the vote totaling 531,918. That's a lot of people supporting him, seems like almost all of the Republicans voted for him as Bob got 43%. So the party chose to support him by not running anyone else and the constituents voting for him.

And get a load of this, right from his description under his picture:
"...In 2018, Dominic ran unsuccessfully for US Senate as a first-time candidate. On election night, Dominic was dismayed by stories of wet ballots, missing ballots, magically appearing ballots, and late floods of election day registrations pushing poll closings far past the state-mandated 8:00 pm deadline, followed by very late reporting of results from our major cities. All of which fueled suspicion and mistrust of the results. A principled conservative, Dominic Rapini will continue his fight for election integrity as Connecticut’s next Secretary of the State."
Nothing like announcing your election denial.
/u/spmahn Did Trump lose the last election? Do we have problems with voter fraud and cheating in Connecticut? The rest of the Country? If so, what and wby?

Other sides suck I will agree however they are not the same, far from it. If people want more options including (viable) other parties we need to end First-past-the-post and replace it with something along the lines of ranked choice.

The problem is first past the post elections. We need something different for example ranked voting. There are other variations but the current way almost guarantees no other parties have a chance in hell.

Except being part time makes it very difficult for anyone other than the wealthy to have the time to get involved in politics. Part time is done intentionally so that it makes it harder for working class and poor to hold a position.

Its without belief in god(s). Most atheists are agnostic atheists. A Gnostic atheist would be claiming to know for a fact and that's as absurd as a Gnostic theist.
I'm an atheist and don't any away from that. I also go to a Universal Unitarian Church nearby that has a diverse mix of beliefs.

Or you only hear those because most of us atheists don't give a shit. Its when people try to push religion on us or make false claims. For one America is not a Christian country, heck we don't even have an official language.

Was George Washington a terrorist? What if you asked the British back then? One persons freedom fighter is another persons terrorist.
The government of India Committed genocide In the 80s against the Sikhs and the Sikhs have wanted independence since. In 2018, Connecticut Assembly passed a resolution that recognised the killings as a genocide. Jewish people got a state after the Holocaust, which was good however it came at the expense of the Palestinians. Now Israel treats Palestinians horribly and depending on who you ask also a genocide. The US government supports what they consider to be in the best interest of the US as a whole but many politicians equally if not more so do the bidding of the oligarchs since this countries birth. Christians in America blindly support Israel because they believe a Jewish State necessary for the return of Jesus and will do whatever it takes. They don't however care about any of the people. Ask a Christian where all the Jews that died in the Holocaust are? Ask what will happen upon Jesus' supposed return?

>drugs weren’t used to control colonial possessions, they were normal every day consumer items everywhere in the West too.
It was both and still is both, governments and wealthy "organizations" often connected to governments use drugs both for profit and control. Sonetimes control/benefit works both directions such as financing other "darker" expenses and operations while also destabilizing where they are sold. The CIA was behind the Cocaine/Crack epidemic in the US decades ago. It funded many different operations in the US and other countries, it destabilized and financed coups while also destroying black and other minority communities especially in the inner cities. It fed on the desperation and lack of opportunity.
