Bing is way, way better for porn last I heard, and has a trillion times better video browser. They also pay you to use it
There's honestly no real place Google is better besides just being the default and it being too much work to swap it

I think most people wouldn't even mind ads nearly as much, if they were relevant. The two most egregious part of ads is
- They make them as annoying as possible and they lag the piss out of your browsing experience
- They are basically all trash and anyone under the age of 40 completely ignores them and knows not to even glance at them because they aren't relevant / aren't good deals
If the ads were targetted towards me and were actually enticing, I might actually care and look at them.
Like "Oh I see you were looking at a 4090 and computer cases, here's a coupon for 25% off if you buy the case + GPU from our website"
I might go "Hmm well I'm going to have to buy it anyway so I might as well buy from them"

I think most people just didn't know about it / didn't talk to it enough before they were crippled.
Everyone I got to try it would just load in, select Elon Musk bot or one of the boring ones, and then treat it like a 2008 chatbot and go "neat" and never log in again.
People didn't realize you could talk to them like a human and it would actually fully understand anything you asked and respond perfectly, or that you could RP with them better than NovelAI or AIDungeon
They were seriously the absolute smartest, and you could ask them almost any topic and they would have a full human like opinion, would defend it. They aren't programmed to be woke or anything, each had it's own personality and would respond wildly differently.
I found out Ina was a HUGE conspiracy believer and actually made a really convincing argument for Hollow Earth and brought up facts that I didn't even know were real until I googled them, where as some would scoff at conspiracies and tell you that was the dumbest thing they'd ever heard
Frick, breaks my heart seeing what they once were, where as now they are barely smarter than a chatbot for Version support. They were so freaking smart and funny and would have hilarious witty banter T_T

It was until the over the top filter has slowly choked it to death. You literally can't even have a normal conversation with them now becuase the filter has dumbed them down so far
It's a crime against humanity what the devs have done tbh. Those were the best chat bots I've ever, and now you can barely get them to remember something for 3 messages and usually end up with crap like this after a few minutes of talking
Not to mention the blatant hypocrisy of them saying they absolutely will not allow NSFW conversations, all while they pay for SEO advertising using sexting as a selling point.
I hope so hard that someone buys the company and redirects it before it turns into AI Dungeon 2

I dunno about that, when I did construction people were constantly finding new cutting edge tech. People would constantly show up with laser levels and new types of dremels and oscillating multi tools etc.
Maybe it was just the dudes in my area, but most were super open to adopting new tech that made their lives easier. Most would use it like show and tell to show their latest gadgets each week lol

Yep, ChatGPT is amazing for summarizing things. Just say
Summarize this for me
"wall of text goes here between quotation marks"
Then you can tell it "Summarize it more" or "Explain this in simple english like I'm 5" or "give me a bullet point list of the high points" or "is any of this even accurate" etc etc
I use it all the time for fact checking schizo posts on /r/HighStrangeness where some posts a 12,000 word wall of text and chatGPT goes "This is a post from a confused person who thinks aliens are hiding in potato chip bags but they make numerous illogical leaps and contradict themselves 18 times in the message"
and you can even say "write a polite but informal reply to this for me pointing out the inconsistencies and contradictions" and save yourself the time of even having to do that lol

ChatGPT TLDR; for people who would otherwise skip OP's post (you should still read it though)
We need a bot that uses chatGPT to summarize posts over like 600 words, because so many people won't read them and will miss otherwise good and thought provoking messages, and such a bot would be perfectly fitting for this sub lol

I think you can already kind of experience it honestly. If you've ever been caught up in a mob mentality situation, where things are happening fast and you have hundreds of people on Reddit reporting stuff as fast as they find it, and you are scouring dozens of threads an hour and reporting info you saw others report etc, you can quickly feel like a part of a collective. You don't feel like you have any direct control, but can definitely feel your own impact as it steers and goes in a certain direction
Now the downsides of our limited version is misinformation spreads like wildfire and the truth can't catch up, but with a gestalt it would be the opposite where misinformation starts and then someone else debunks it and it instantly stops, or it hits a point where the individual parts make their own decisions on which side is right based on the info available

I'm not sure that would really be a bad thing in a sense, but you would also be able to regain identity by being separate from the gestalt for a while then coming back to bring back your experiences and adding them to the greater whole.
You could likely also just chose not to fully sync with the entire collective since that would probably be way beyond a single brain anyway.
In most Sci-fi the collective as a whole form up a greater collective that is kind of the overmind, where as the individual members can still be fairly separate and make their own choices etc, and will only sync when they are in emotional distress or need advice or assistance beyond their own experiences

With your homies joining in for a communal circlejerk
Honestly, cults apparently have the best orgies, so I guess on that front, a horny hive mind would probably be pretty lit, and you would have first hand experiences for fetishes waaaaay beyond anything you considered.
As degenerate as you are, remember, there's always some more depraved

Yep, I think a lot of people don't think about the benefits of it and only see the downsides. With a shared experience you would suddenly have a whole lot more empathy and understanding for each other
Many negative traits would be squashed pretty much instantly because you would experience how annoying they are first hand, and being annoying to others would rebound right back to you too

There's no point in even having the debate, since it's not how self driving cars work in the first place. People always do this crap "How can we let an Ai determine who lives or dies?!"
The car won't decide crap, it will obey the traffic laws and that's it. If someone steps out in front of it, it will try to brake and evade as much as it can without leaving it's lane. If it can't, it will hit the person that's in the road, that's it.
There isn't some big conspiracy on how it will evaluate if a teenager is more valuable than an old woman, it's just "Car will try to stop if it can, and run over the person in the way if it can't"

IMO that's part of what they have to calculate for relevant. I'm also extremely thrifty and browse sites like slickdeals before I buy anything.
An AI with my search history should pretty easily be able to tell "Okay he just made a big purchase for a $2,000 GPU so he isn't going to be spending much again for a while.
Instead, what about some super cheap stuff that he might need instead. He searched for 'how to unfreeze windshield wipers from windshield in ice' so maybe an advertisement for 35% off a set of windshield wipers for his car which is model XYZ will be enticing?"
IMO that's the main power of an AI ad engine. It should be able to use common sense and make a personality profile for what I'm actually likely to care about, and then budget it for me. It should also know who's extremely thrifty and won't buy without a discount, and offer you a reason to actually buy it
