Im fine with more manufacturing in VT. We need to shift our focus away from a service economy, its just not viable to generate the revenue we need to take care of our people. It is a wonderful addition but it can barely pay the bills and takes a shadow economy of some 5B worth of non profit efforts in addition to the official budget.

I wish you econazis would make up your minds, lol. Are we going to be flooded with climate refugees up here or will our small towns dry up and never be seen again?!

Businesses not related to the tourism industry will rise to replace whatever jobs are lost due to our transition into a warmer climate. I have to wonder why so many are simping so hard for an industry that makes it all but impossible for anyone but the well off to live here?

Every crisis is an opportunity. We need to figure out how to adapt to a changing planet if we are ever going to exist off this one. Im all for eliminating our dependence on FF, but not if its going to just make a different group of folks rich, off a different set of problematic resources, while main street folks still get screwed on the monthly utilities.

I cant really blame them in a lot of ways. The private sector broke the social contract every chance it has ever gotten. Every protection and social safety program had to fought for often years or decades in the making... and then defended because they are still demonized and threatened all the time.

Business owners are not due workers to chase THEIR profiteering dreams. If the pay and benefits are not there, dont expect the people to be.

TBH i dont even care if the majority of it (VT or even greater America itself ) goes against the rights that the LGBT community have had recognized. These are basic rights inherent to any and all self aware entities. Those who stand against such deserve no place in a civilized society.

For many of us they are an annoyance that we must tolerate in society. I get it, people love their furkids. .im the same way about cats. I'd find it annoying if there were a million cat pics flooding the sub too. Unlike dogs though cats dont generally get led along the same paths as people on leashes voiding their waste and invading the personal space of strangers.

Like a lot of issues in the state there are limited actions we the people can take. We have 2 chances every election cycle to get someone halfway decent into office who will address the issues that main street VT needs fixed. Thats it! The primary and general elections, no ballot referendum to choose the policies and laws we live under, No recall powers of the people to remove bad actors once they are in power, until that changes i feel that any other changes will be like the legalization fight.. 5 election cycles and 15 years to eventually get anything done where a question on a ballot could have solved the problem fast.

It is sad that simply doing the right thing has become not the most basic bar but some kind of gold standard cause simple competence and being a human freaking being has been sacrificed on several altars.
