This is getting more and more common again. Right before covid it was almost at a breaking point then covid hit and all the Work from home stuff really took the pressure off , but its building up again. More and more and more people in JC and Path system at capacity .

Honestly think . PA wants this to happen to complain and ask for more money. Demand has grown yet they REDUCED the amount of trains on this line.

appreciate it - the water bill does not make sense though like i said the most in 10 years of billing ive ever used in a quater is like 9000 gallons and that was mostly filling up a pool. Most months its under 3,000 . So im still fighting with them how they trying to say we used 40,000 in quater - no leaks no running faucets - this new company seems criminal and super shady .

Hmm i can see that . I have a buddy that live over in the Beacon and they say they are fully populated and only have 2-3 openings.

But he says he feels like his floor is empty and never sees or hears any neighbors anymore when his floor used to be a super busy hub.

Some coffee shops can have a loop hole too where they wont get dinged - If food is not prepared on site and brought it - its not a violation technically.

Of course they could not care because its not like there is anyone out enforcing it if no one complains .

Anywhere where food is prepared or that serves alcohol is subject to FDA rules which is no animations indoors.

Beer is regulated by alcohol commission which is ok with Pets on Perm.

in Greenville can confirm it went up almost 900 this quarter for me , they can't drop huge bombs on people like this out of the blue.

This is in addition to the $400 a quarter it already went up since last year because of the school tax .

however my Q1 2023 is back down to just the $400 increase though.

Not to mention the water company trying to get me for an extra $600 this cycle too somehow trying to say i used 40,000 gallons when the new company took over vs the average of like 3 i use every month that im still fighting them over.

Taxing people on the value of their home is insane - what does the value and market price of a home have anything to do with required city services and expenditures for police / fire / roads so as the area gets more popular you pay out the ass.

Maybe that fair for corporations making all these for profit mega buildings but for those of us just trying to live is BS.

at place valued at 500k gets 12k in taxes a year . You pay all this money for house then pay more then most places in rent on something you already own here.

I dont understand who is paying these rates - rents gone up nearly 30% in most places since covid . I used to think the $2400 i paid for my 2br just a few years back was too high. Now my old Apt is renting for $3500 and the place is full.

Almost 40k a year for 1200 sq apartment downtown !. Downtown has not improved or changed much in the last few years to justify any of this . Same amount of bars and restaurants same quality WORSE transit options , more expensive beers at most places .

There is no reason for this other then pure greed and HOW the hell are they filling these places at these rates . I moved downtown in 2010 to be close to some well priced bars and places to eat and be able to easily walk to everything and meet up with friends a few days a week. I originally thought my place was expensive at like $1800 /mo + $149 a month for a spot in the garage . Now it double that , i moved out obviously and pay less then that for a 3400 sq foot house now its insane .

I understood the bit of the premium at 1800 for being close to nyc /downtown JC when Newark ave we coming back up , but nothings really changed in 10+ years now , no new venues or complexes with entertainment - the mall is dying and not making a transition to an entertainment complex like many other have even though it would be perfect for it .

Just nothing justified or explains this or how there are so many crazy well off people willing to pay those rates.

Non service Dogs are not legally allowed inside any place that serves food or alcohol in NJ.

The only 2 exception to , this is breweries which don't server alcohol or food and are not subject to FDA law and only the alcohol commission law which allow dogs on prem.

Private members only clubs with owners permission . Elks , Moose , Knights of Columbus etc. But subject to normal rules during public / guest events.

Some places turn a blind eye or if not blatant violation and no one is complaining its not really enforced. But in JC i can promise you there are Dog hating Karens that will IMMEDIATELY report a place when they see it .

I seen it at place that allow dogs at the outdoor seating areas ( totally legal with owners discretion ) , always eventually a Karen that complains about it.

I love find dog friendly places , like Departed soles or ed and Mary's personally

its the corruption in the process and by companies . Even when NJ does a fair bid system , they do something like only certified companies can bid but then find ways to deny everyone but who they are friends with in the certification process.

Things that were done 30 years ago for 200 million now end up as 2 billion dollar project - it just doesn't match the inflation or cost increases .

From the cost of doing a mile of road work to mass transit and tunnels the price is completely off the charts form back room deals . That why nothing gets done.. It doesn't get done unless everyone and their mom that signs off on it gets a big piece . ive seen projects need "post project documentation and pictures" all of a sudden and then have to hire some senators sons company who only just came into existence to do nothing but go take completion pictures for a six figures.

you cant really fairly compare roads from a place that gets no snow to one that does though . The salt and the chemicals put on the roads wreck the roads in snowy cities.

However its VERY bad in JC compared to even the rest of NJ. Like there should be a full time work crews where their ONLY job is to drive around and fill pot holes... It takes all of 10 minutes of work to fill on. They could do 100 a day and still be busy year round .

There is no excuse for basketball sized potholes existing for months after reporting them.

One of my neighbors used to get frustrated and go fill them himself . Shocked they didnt launch an investigation to find and give him a ticket.

Small minority??? ...LOL you live a sheltered life my friend if that what you think . 30% of the population lives in densely packed cities with street parking . Hell that was the only lifestyle i knew for 30 year. The fight for spots around here is bad enough in winter as is. Add to that electric charging and there are going to be huge issues.

doglywolf t1_ir5ko8f wrote

I dont see this as a problem - what i do see is people blocking off spots because they feel entitled to them or NEED them to charge their car. Fighting with neighbors , putting cones , chairs ,garbage cans take up the spot the entire day so its there for them later.

The police will need a whole new category for calls. Dispatch : We got another 1022B Parking fight

You can't mandate electric cars because people live in apartment buildings or busy streets. So what they have to sit somewhere for 30 min to 2 hours every week vs stopping at a gas station for 2 minutes . That a huge step backwards for a lot of people . Unless every city block puts them in and makes the spot EV only but imagine the backlash .
