Man, I lived in Salem for almost 3 years and Halloween was never this brutal. It used to be fun. I chalk it up to post-COVID syndrome. Everyone desperately wants to go out and do things even if they're really mid activities... My friend still lives in the downtown area and he can't even walk down his own street to get groceries, food, etc. Dumb tourists who can't park or read signs keep blocking his driveway constantly. What a nightmare.

>Surely the guys at the shop I always take my car to would have said something, right? I also got an oil change at the beginning of September—isn’t that something inspected during oil changes?

Uh, why the hell would you ever assume that? If you bring your vehicle in for a specific problem, they're going to fix it and move on. They're not going to spend the whole day doing a 1,000-point inspection on the rest of your car... for free. That's insanity. If you break your arm and go to the hospital, they're not going to do a friggin' colonoscopy to make sure your ass is good just in case. They're going to cast your arm and send you home. But while you're there, if you say, "Hey, my ass is on fire," then they'll take a look.

And, frankly, if a mechanic came to me saying he found "other problems" besides the ones I asked to be fixed, I would immediately be suspicious. "Oh yeah, we noticed you need new pads... and you definitely need a new framus to connect with the ramistan. We can do that for you!"

A household requires a familial (or otherwise legalized) relationship -- your legal spouse, children/guardians, an elderly parent or in-law living with you, etc. You are living with roommates and none of you have a legal or financial obligation to each other. You can't claim each other as dependents.

If you are not related, not married, and not in an otherwise legal relationship (child/guardian), then you all cannot claim to be in a singular household for tax & benefits purposes.

I mean, this is/was literally a huge reason why gay marriage is/was such a contested political issue. Gay couples couldn't get legally married at one point so they were not eligible for any familial/spousal benefits. As you can see, that's a very big deal just in terms of financials.

My parents still say, "Dunkin Donuts," because they've lived here for 40+ years... And I say "Dunks" mostly due to millennial apathy.

But I've never heard anyone say, "Dunkin" outside of the commercials. And no one has ever called it "Dunkies." What in the friggin' fuck is that.

Lack of exercise has horrible life-long health impacts, and yet, we don't tax people for not exercising. Maybe we should put a massive tax on video games so people don't sit around all day. In fact, the government should force all game companies to put a cap at 1 hour of play per 24 hours. That'll force people to exercise!

We should tax elevators, escalators, and those moving sidewalks in the airports. We should tax e-bikes & scooters because pedaling manually is far better exercise.

We should reinstitute a nationwide military draft to force people to get in shape. Two birds with one stone there. We can bulk up our military and get rid of all the fat-asses.

Lol.

Auburn's schools are directly on par with Holden's. Wachusett Regional is hardly a farm school for the Ivys. There are nice houses & shitty houses in both towns.

You're cherry-picking for Holden because you have some weird boner for Holden despite it being a quiet, boring town. Lol, having a Big Y gets you excited to live in Holden..? Not that Auburn is a wonderland, I'm just saying you're making it sound like "Pawnee vs Eagleton" when really both towns are equally... meh.

That's exactly what happened to me & my gf (now wife) about 10 years ago.

We were paying month-to-month and I completely forgot to pay my half once. We were both super busy, I had just started a new job, my wife went back to school, etc. I didn't notice until a few months later. The landlord never asked for it, so I never said anything.

When we moved out several months later, the landlord must have done some final auditing or accounting and realized we owed that half month's rent. He came asking for it and we agreed he could take it from my security deposit so it worked out.

All depends on the type of tow, the time of day, where you are, etc.

Two weeks ago, my battery died while I was in a parking garage in downtown Boston. It only took ~30 min because they were able to send a regular service truck with a portable jumper pack instead of an actual tow truck. Had I needed a tow, they said it would've taken a lot longer.
