Prospect
Van Cortlandt
Pelham Bay
Astoria Park
Forest Park
Rockaway Beach
Crocheron
I mean there are hundreds. Even if you insist on being so Manhattan focused, there's Inwood Hill.

Guess I should get a new card every time I go to a restaurant then

It's hardly pristine, every square inch is curated.
And NYC has tons of good parks, some of the more wild than Central Park.

You're the one who brought up sterilization in response.
Pretty weird how at first you're LARPing as a eugenicist and now it's all about harm reduction.

This is another cool boutique program for a special interest group with social cachet!
Its great we do these rather than repair roads, make MTA more reliable, and address trash and noise issues

A drunk passed out on a park bench doesn't affect me, someone smoking does.

I mean the Bruckner Blvd rezone is significant and probably cost a bunch of political capital. I am a huge bike and transit user, but I realize that an upzone there is more important than 5 miles of bus lane on Northern Blvd.

It's wild how people who DEFINITELY know better are so inconsiderate with their dog.

For real. There's a lot of idealization about having a sidewalk or yard completely clean in a way that only leaf blowers can do. When in reality a once over with a rake is completely sufficient unless you're hosting a royal wedding or something.

That's the whole point. These services are never funded sustainably, their service levels come and go.

> “I was disappointed [that the request for a tree didn't work],” Chandrasekaran said — all the more so because he had admired the Department of Parks & Recreation’s efforts to care for street trees and even map them citywide. “All that was super awesome. I was inspired. It made me think this would work, but it didn’t.”
C'mon, you knew better than to expect good service... this is emblematic of our city government. Countless pet project studies, data collections, boutique development programs targeted towards people from all walks of life - all the while basic infrastructure is covered in trash and crumbling and simple quality of life rules go unenforced.

People would be amazed at how much decades old software is out there running critical systems in infrastructure, banking, etc. It's easy to forget, as we are pushed fancy new features so often, that the primary reason for software's existence is to automate tasks. If some code could do that in 1993, it can do that today.

Reply to My thoughts after walking 8.5 miles down Roosevelt Ave and Greenpoint Ave through Queens by iFlunkedChemistry
That sounds great - I do these kinds of walks all the time and it's cool you did this. There are a lot of similar walks in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but there's probably no 8 miles in the city that you're going to get as widely varied of cultures as where you did it in Queens.
My advice for the next one is go multimodal, take the ferry down to Bay Ridge and then walk north through Sunset Park, Park Slope and up to DUMBO
