Well, not publishing their name doesn't mean they didn't verify the story.

Stipulated. Who do I vote for to get NYPD to take vehicle related infractions, fake plates, and toll cheating seriously? Actual question.

Reply to Council seeks steep fines for NYC chain stores that fail to shovel snow by King-of-New-York
NYPD permanently blocking sidewalks all over the city: cool no problem
Businesses not removing snow a few times a year: $1000-$5000 fine
Also, I'm scratching my head trying to think of a chain store I've ever seen fail to remove snow. Usually they want their customers to be able to get in. In my experience it's way more likely to be homeowners and poorly managed apartment buildings.

Prying questions like a guy hitting on you in a bar asking "So what do you do?"
Trying to get the victim to leave with them, as in every pickup attempt ever?

I don't see what Adams has to do with this. Kid should have been locked up for 4 years by now.
We should investigate his parents, too.

It was 2 murders in 3 months, the last of which was in June. Probably not a great use of undercover resources.
Also very likely this looked like a normal pickup attempt until the drinks were spiked, so what you're suggesting is that cops stake out clubs and fend off hundreds, maybe thousands, of pickup attempts, over months or years, until a guy roofies their drink. And you have to test the drink after every single one, because otherwise you don't know if they've roofied it and therefore if you found the bad guys.

Reply to LA to NYC- excited to move but scared by [deleted]
> New York on the other hand doesn’t have much beauty and to my knowledge the east coast isn’t too beautiful
I moved from the West Coast and this couldn't be more wrong. There is great hiking 45 min drive outside of NYC for example, and some of it is accessible by rail. Not to mention the more curated beauty within it (various parks, beaches, etc).
In a way it's good for you. Know that you will not be giving up natural beauty when you move here. It's not always as dramatic as on the West Coast - for example it's hard to get above the tree line for great vistas here - but it's still solid. Look up Breakneck Ridge if you want some inspiration.
> definitely excited to get away from all the wannabe influencers and that type of scene in LA.
Oh they're here all over too. But I think less than LA.

The overall point he was making, I believe, is that black people suffer phenomenally worse rates of violent victimization than other races, and it's crazy our politicians don't seem to care about it. The former clause is factual and inarguable, the latter is a political point but IMO a good one.
The point he was wrong about is his idea that Jacksonville's crime rates are close to NYCs on a racial victimization basis - they aren't.

Reply to NYC Council to hold hearing on e-bike battery fires, advocates to rally ahead of meeting by ShinyGodzilla
> The committee is expected to discuss various proposals. Some would require public education campaigns or safety reports. Another would prohibit the sale of some secondhand lithium-ion batteries, or e-bike or scooter batteries without certain seals of approval.
Anything relying on the end consumer to make better choices is doomed to fail. A guy making $22,000 a year running deliveries is not going to pay 20% more for a genuine battery, nor is the illegal shop out of the back of a minivan going to sell him one. You need to stem the flow at manufacture and import.
