Students are not the shitshow. I don’t fault individual teachers either but the incompetent deadweights in administration building that make your life incredibly difficult as a tax paying parent when you’re trying to enroll or transfer your kid or need any kind of basic assistance or clarity from their convoluted and often asinine practices. The level of disdain and contempt they show to people that pay their salaries and pensions is beyond despicable. Their standard protocol for responding to emails is “Ignore all”. Then when you are forced to call them it’s never easy - and that someone on the phone is usually just so fucking rude and impatient AF like “why the fuck are you bothering me?”. The culture from admin layer gets passed down to individual schools leadership unfortunately and overall this is the shitshow that gave birth to popularity of charters I am betting.

No I will not help these kids. There is labor shortage in retail and food sectors, if they want to earn money they can find a proper job. Please don’t assume they’re all needy. Opportunistic maybe, definitely not needy. What they’re doing is unethical, illegal and is a public nuisance. The aggressive, bullying technique used by many of them feels like a mugging.

For all you newbies Education Matters is backed by JCEA. You asked why are my taxes and rents keep going up? Nobody is asking for accountability and better performance on a near $1B budget because when you have the union push in their favored candidates there is no true oversight. For the record 8 out of 9 current board members are backed by JCEA. That’s worse than Team Fulop set up in city hall. Lone exception being Alexander Hamilton, who I’ve seen on zoom meetings as the lone dissenting voice in a roomful of union’s cronies. He’s sadly outnumbered and frankly we need more board members like him and less Velasquez. Here are the current board members:

Gerald Lyons - JCEA backed
Gina Verdibello - JCEA backed
Natalia Ioffe - JCEA backed
Younas Barkouch - JCEA backed
Paula Jones-Watson - JCEA backed
Lorenzo Richardson - JCEA backed
LeKendrick Shaw - JCEA backed
Noemi Velazquez - JCEA backed
Alexander Hamilton - NOT JCEA backed

Your hotel is literally 1 minute walk from Newport station entrance so you will have near zero chance of danger. PATH is not NYC subway - it’s 10X safer than NYC system w crazies. In addition Newport/Pavonia PATH stop is probably one of the safest within Jersey City as that area has lots of foot traffic from highrise apartments even late at night.
