  1. Train customer service skills to all the staff in administration and school principals. Being helpful, cordial and patient on the phone when parents need help navigating the often convoluted process of enrolling or transferring their kid should be the standard. What we get now is straight up rude and annoyed tone and employees that act like they’re doing you a favor. It’s like NYC DMV over there.

  2. Hire qualified outside senior level tech staff with solid big tech experience to oversee & implement technology for the entire school district. It should not take 2-3 weeks to set up new students or teachers email accounts and they really need to simplify chromebook learning to single sign on to reduce unnecessary complexity. We have ton of citizens that work in tech and finance sector here and bringing a private public partnership curriculum would really advance education quality imo.

  3. Add Gifted and Talented Programs within each school and refrain from imposing DEI on existing magnet schools like McNair. Merit (not race, gender, etc.) should be the only criteria at top academic schools. Get your DEI hands out of magnets and high performers.

  4. Postpone sex and gender education until at least middle school. 9 year olds do not need to learn this when they should be devoting more hours on core fundamentals.

  5. For the love of god hire general contractor/construction expert and project manager from the private sector to fix lead pipes and crumbling infrastructure. School is flushed with cash but totally disabled in executing anything.

I agree! It’s called progress, people! It’s not just Pompidou but as a flagship anchor destination along with Loews theatre which will attract more businesses to revamp that commercial district. But city needs to fully monetize this big brand name and likeness by selling memberships, corporate sponsors, solicit developer donations to lessen the tax hit.

I learned something new about red light cameras laws. Ty! No wonder Jersey drivers get their reputation. One way would simplify crossing for pedestrians which reduces crashes as long as the street is not too wide. You don’t think it would make a difference? If I am walking along Baldwin and crossing 139 I am only looking for cars front or behind me but not both and left or wright depending on which side of 139 I am passing.

It’s infuriating to see this happen again. There was a plan to make Baldwin one way with a bike lane but Boggiano winning his reelection put a damper on that. One way traffic on narrower Baldwin would slow the cars down and increase safety. And speed cameras on 139 would go a long way if there is any appetite for enforcement but these people in charge don’t give af.

Look at my comment history, sir. I’ve done my due diligence on how inefficient the public schools are run with stats and numbers. Have you? You on the other hand are straight up lapdog of the very people responsible for 30%+ rent/property tax increase and families having to uproot to relocate elsewhere. The corrupt machine that you represent is what is wrong with NJ politics.

You’re saying I am making this up? https://www.politico.com/states/new-jersey/story/2018/10/05/murphy-aide-cursed-about-evangelicals-on-facebook-640507?_amp=true

Why are you excusing such vile, divisive, racist vitriol uttered by a public official? You want a person who thinks like this to have power over schools? You’re the problem!

Noemi Velazquez was a teacher in the system so was likely corrupted by her connections and friends. On linkedin she’s “Special Assistant To JC Public Schools”not teaching but likely padding her pension with barely show job. This why I will never vote for anyone who comes from inside that culture. Likelihood to be corrupted is almost guaranteed.

Alexander Hamilton voted 3 times during his first term as a trustee. He voted NO to budget increase his first year in 2020 as he was the lone dissent in 8-1 vote. He voted NO to budget again in 2021, and 2022. He was also lone voice of outrage when the board FAKE searched for superintendent search after Walker retired. The board passed resolution to look for new superintendent but they lied to JC citizens that they performed this national search and instead promoted 40 year lifer in Dr Fernandez. He was also lone voice of dissent when board member Paula Jones Watson flip flopped a 4-5 NO vote to 5-4 YES vote on $1B budget. Please remember the depth of corruption of BOE has been going on for multi decades, maybe longer and our only chance of fixing the school is entirely new non union backed board, new superintendent from outside, and new upper management in administration. Zero accountability, transparency culture has to be completely destroyed from top down and within.

How bad was corruption in Ukraine before the war? Kleptocracy is a very common theme in many former Soviet states. I have Russian friends here who tell me certain hopelessness deriving from lack of prospects due to corruption and nepotism living in Russia that motivated them to immigrate to the US.

I know someone who got burned the same way as you after he renovated his house and spent lavishly on finishes then someone came knocking. His taxes went up 2X in a week.

You have to treat the tax assessor like that clean energy scam guy - tell him you’re just a pet sitter for the owner who is hospitalized with Covid then shut the door.

Welcome to Jersey City! Which part of eastern Ukraine are you originally from? I’ve been following the war and it’s very tragic on so many angles because it’s essentially a fratricide, a civil war with entanglements of Russia and NATO mixed in. Is what is being portrayed by American/Western main stream media an accurate depiction of what led up to and is currently going on in Ukraine? Looking at history of proxy wars - Korean War, Yogoslav War, etc, division of territory (eastern & southern split from western Ukraine) appears to be the likely but unfortunate ending.

Sorry if I was late to post my own as I had to put out some fires my kiddo’s school being in recent news about the pedo security guard. Anyway, there are many things I would like to change but if I am allowed only one I would implement a complete cleanse of leadership at the top levels in administration and bring in more experienced private sector experts and corporate leaders who are not damaged by being in the toxic culture of nepotism bubble and who can build new culture of excellence, responsibility and accountability. We need at least one technology expert in that leadership room who can really save a ton of money by streamlining repetitive administrative tasks and redesign digital curriculum to a single sign on simplicity. It’s maddening how inefficiently run the schools are.
