Hotel's already booked out but I'm sure there are still badges. The nice thing about these two is that you can just drive up there for a day. (Or take transit—the light rail lets off about a half mile from the hotel.)

Couple of smaller ones are Far Point (February) and Shore Leave (July), both out in Cockeysville. They're fun. (The big kahuna is DragonCon in Atlanta on Labor Day.)

and here I was going to concur, "Oh thank doG!" Fingers crossed the rest of the day goes better for you.

Hopefully the conductor put this person off the train onto the side of the tracks and said, "Oh hey, now you're trespassing, too." Dipshit.

Couple years ago, a neighbor of mine out here in the burbs was crossing the Post Office driveway. A driver pulled up to the stop sign, they both made eye contact, my neighbor took a couple steps out into the driveway and the driver ran her over anyway.

(In the “Convenient Cop” vein, the driver behind the striking vehicle was an off duty cop. Neighbor (70 yo!) got a broken shoulder and hip, but fortunately recovered nicely.)

Some of them are glued to their phones, but most of the time they’re paying attention. Locals are aware of how dangerous it is to cross the street in the crosswalk with the green light or walk signal.

Tourists, OTOH…. Last week I was out for my after lunch walk and watched two different family groups just walk out into traffic. (As I passed them afterwards, I said, “This is D.C. They WILL hit you.”)

Having been caught on the wrong side of Penna Ave and having had to wait fifteen minutes to get back to the office, I can tell you you’re just not missing much. Lots of motorcycle cops, lots of black SUV's with lots of grim looking secret service agents with guns hanging out the windows, the beast and usually a few more limos (not necessarily all in that order), and an ambulance tagging along behind.

“Requested”. Good luck, everyone.

They should maybe take him to the vet; something may be going on with his health. One of the places where I used to ride, one of the instructors had a big goofy black lab who loved everybody—until he was running around the back deck, slipped and ran head first into a retaining wall. Immediate personality change towards non-family: growling, snapping, hackles up, snarling, the whole shebang. I don’t think he ever bit anyone, but he damn sure threatened for several months. I figure he concussed himself or something.
