And not in the woman in the article’s experience in America. Being cheap is universal I guess.

In Europe servers and bartenders make a “living wage” the same way $15 an hour is a “living wage” here. They usually do have sweet government mandated benefits though.
It’s now standard to tip 10% - 15% in restaurants in Europe.

Especially if you’re taking advantage of a discount night, like this 35 cent wing night.

Other more legitimate media may be waiting until there’s more confirmed news to report, or until family and friends are informed. In typical GoLocal fashion, most of this article is cut-and-paste from a social media post. The only actual reporting is one paragraph about the police confirming that he was found.

From the RI General Laws, here are the exemptions to the restaurants rules -
21-27-6. Businesses exempt.
The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to those activities of food business which are licensed and regulated in accordance with the provisions of this title; provided, that retail food businesses and food vending machines limited solely to selling or dispensing ice and/or non-perishable foods, including, but not limited to, gumballs, unopened bottled or canned beverages, and prepackaged candy, nuts, gum, popcorn, chips, pretzels, cookies, and crackers. Honey producers who are registered with the state are exempt from the provisions of this chapter.
Note how it says UNOPENED bottles and cans.
It doesn’t say anything about where the food is prepared, just where it is served and consumed. Breweries, like every place that sells alcohol for on premise consumption, is considered under the umbrella of “restaurant” by the department of health. Same with drinks being considered a food product

FYI - it’s against state health codes to allow dogs inside any place that serves food or drinks. You might want to consider all the other health codes that are being blatantly ignored at these places.

Have they released the results of the surveys and studies they did from Hope St yet? I don’t think I’ve seen them.

There is a precedent of removing them. It happened on Eaton St a few years ago. Same thing with temporary bike lanes in East Providence that barely lasted a week. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. Especially when it was pushed through with very little input from the local community, which was the case with the South Water St lanes. Its been a huge controversy since they first started building it, but the city plowed ahead over the objections and did it anyway.

Another problem is that most of Providence relies on people coming in from outside of the city, either to work or dine or to support events. Those people need car infrastructure.

Came here to say this. Most people and businesses are against widespread installation of bike lanes. A very vocal minority of people in online forums shouldn’t dictate this sort of policy, especially when they’ve admitted in the past to not giving two shits what the neighborhood residents think.

Parking enforcement seems like it rotates through neighborhoods in phases. Like they focus on one area for a few weeks then move on to another area. Also the fairly new license plate scanning system means they can process a lot more cars per night.
