Osbourne Landing has a few paved trails next to the river. Easy parking and a clean bathroom in the picnic pavilion.

The gravel path next to the train tracks in JRPS, accessed at Reedy Creek and other entrances, is pretty flat.

Amen. I just did this before I left town on Friday.

I actually installed a valve where the water comes into my house, with a hose attached, so I can drain my entire water pipe system in a few minutes.

A few years back, I didn't do this and came home after a 3 week trip in January, to the terrible sounds of water spewing.

Interesting. Today I learned.

However VDOT also states that they don't maintain roads in cities and towns (town are inside counties, and most Virginia cities are independent, thus responsible for their own stuff (like the City of Richmond.)

>Note: VDOT does not maintain roads in cities, towns, or in Henrico and Arlington counties, except for interstates and major primary roads. VDOT does not maintain all sidewalks, or pedestrian or bike paths. Some may be maintained by localities. Please submit a separate report for each request.

Again, whut? Am I missing some subtle English syntax here?

Counties and independent cities in Virginia maintain their own stuff, not VDOT.

Fairfax country maintains it's own roads. Rockbridge county maintains its own roads, etc, etc, as is done across the state.

Whut? This isn't accurate. There are 95 counties and 38 independent cities in Virginia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_and_counties_in_Virginia

Each one of those counties has its own county seat and county government. Independent cities are equivalent to counties and also have their own governments, budgets, courthouses and city managers/government. And they all maintain their own stuff.

But the cemeteries are there, and are culturally and historically important. Either we dig everyone up and move them, which is not gonna happen, for lots of good reasons, so we need to take care of them, rather than let them fall into disrepair.

The Amityville Horror illustrates what happens when you build a subdivision over an inconvenient cemetery. 😋

Just came from the voting station in South Side in Manchester. Very smooth and organized. Parking/traffic was a bit congested, but we parked a few blocks away and walked. In and out in less than 15 minutes, though the line was getting longer when we left at 1:15.

Go Vote.
