I remember in the late 80’s I was working at a hotel, and a super friendly young woman approached me with a pitch about one of these companies, that had a “seminar” starting in a few hours in one of the conference halls. So I said what the heck, and showed up for it. It immediately struck me as completely bizarre and nonsensical- all of the people who were part of the company were hyper ra-ra-ra, overly enthusiastic, cheering… Had some young kid sitting in the center of attention, them going on about how much money and objects he’d earned soooo quickly. The kid sitting there with this dumb smile, saying not a single word, knowing what complete BS everything they were saying was. I walked out after 30 minutes…

Yeah, it’s definitely harder to find good rates at brick and mortar banks. I’ve been banking online for over 20 years and love never having to step foot in an actual bank, with all of their other fees to boot. You could always keep your checking in that bank, and open a separate online savings at ally, or other higher yield savings bank.

Look into another savings account, possibly even in your same bank. For example, Ally Bank has savings account with 2.75% interest rate. I had a Capital One savings account with a measly .30% rate, then realized they had another type savings account with over 2% interest. No minimums for any of them either… For some reason, some savings accounts don’t raise their rates, and others keep bumping up as the federal interest rates go up.

Pull up Google maps and type in liquor store. Visit the ones closest to you. Decide which one(s) you like best.

I love it. Feels more grounded and nuanced than GoT. More character development, less all over the place storylines/locations. Terrifically cast, some really great dramatic beats. It’s all connected to GoT, but different enough tonally to be it’s own thing.

Having your kid take karate or other self defense classes is a great idea. They will know how to handle themselves (responsibly, hopefully) in a worse case scenario. But more importantly, they will have the confidence to believe they can handle themselves, and will be able to project a “don’t fuck with me” attitude, making themselves unlikely to be bullied in the first place. Plus they can stick up for other kids being bullied!
