Fuck that...
I would rather pay more for electricity than live anywhere near a nuclear power plant.

There were some horrifying stories out of NYC when they got dumped on with rain and people wound up drowning stuck in their basement apartment.

The contract specifically states it cannot be subject to a class action
phunky_1 t1_iy4w9qt wrote
From what I have read, eversource is not allowed to put a hold on it, they are required to process it typically within two business days.
The language in the contract does say it is subject to eversource processing it for it to go in to effect for me, with an effective date of 11/27/22.
What is the point if eversource can just refuse to process requests?
I would recommend downloading and saving a copy of the contract as a PDF instead of relying on just the confirmation emails.
Sounds like some bullshit that would easily be litigated.

It makes no sense that CT gas is pretty much the same price or more expensive with no tax as neighboring states that still have a state gas tax.

That was the farms excuse.
Probably 70% of the trees had a big chunk of the branches that were brown or no needles at all.
It took us an hour or two to finally find a decent tree that looked like it would last until Christmas.

I finally caved and got a fake one this year.
Last year was terrible, most of the trees were almost dead because of drought.
I am sure this year is even worse.

At the time I looked at it like I was getting paid to sit in traffic since I was making almost double the money by getting a job near Boston.
Those 12+ hour days were rough though. Out of the house by 6-630, home between 630-730.
I did It so we could afford to have my wife raise our kids when they were young instead of sending them to daycare.
thankfully I am completely remote now.

The drive to Boston is going to suck.
The last 12 miles can easily take over an hour depending on what time you need to go in.
I used to commute from just outside Providence RI to Boston and some days it would take me 2-3 hours in one direction.
The train is not all that much more convenient if your work isn't within walking distance of back Bay or south station. It can take just as long if not longer than driving if you need to take the train to south station then subways from there.

It doesn't matter if you are a Facebook user or not.
They are still giving them the information such as your spouses name, dependents names, how much income you made, etc.
They can then presumably turn around and sell that information to other entities that they have a business relationship with.

They are giving the information like your name, the names of your spouse and dependents, how much money you earn, etc. to Facebook, who in turn likely sells it to other companies.

.. the US exports a lot of natural gas.
It seems the solution is to regulate energy companies to be allowed to export less and provide more domestic supply.

I have found good luck trying to get an installer to call you back.
I have been wanting to do this as well and have called half a dozen companies multiple times with no call backs.
I am guessing they are all slammed with work from people trying to do the same thing and it might not be possible to get one this winter.
Cost wise it seems like you need to supplement it with solar to make it cheaper than oil when oil prices come back down to normal levels.
I want to get them for AC anyway so it seems like a no brainer to get a hyperheat system to at least lower oil costs while the cost of oil is high.
In the meantime I have been keeping thermostats low working from home during the day while the kids are at school and just running an oil filled electric radiator, it has been a lot cheaper than heating the whole house with oil all day.

Thanks for a real world example.
The $500 in winter is what concerns me.
That is fine with oil prices where they are now. Most likely they will eventually come back down and heat pumps will be more expensive to operate.

Definitely not drugs....
The TSA has stated their policy is to look for security threats.
If they happen to find illegal substances during security screening they refer the matter to local police but they don't specifically look for them.
The dogs are smelling for explosives and other weapons.

I have never seen that.
You could probably still do an insert somehow.
A lot of people don't realize fireplaces make the house colder.
It makes other rooms cold, you also need to keep the flue open all night which let's cold air in.
phunky_1 t1_ite9e4d wrote
I would invest in a wood stove insert for your fireplace.
A fireplace actually makes your house colder. Where you might be able to heat the whole place with a wood stove insert.
It sounds like either your flue isn't opening properly or you have a blockage in the chimney.
