I cleaned the driveway this morning at about 8. there was about 3 inches of slush. Went out to do some errands and by the time I got back the precipitation had pretty much stopped (noon). It started snowing like a bastard at about 3 and kept going until about 5 which left another 3 inches but I had decided to wait until the morning to deal with it.

UNTIL I SAW THIS THREAD !!! Then I started panicking that it was going to freeze over night and my driveway wouldn't be clean again until April.

So I went out and started the snow blower. I would have been fine waiting. The 3 - 4 inches that was out there was just fluff here in North Central Mass.

Oh well, it only took me about 45 minutes and now I can stay in tomorrow morning and enjoy my coffee.

ADDED SURPRISE BONUS: Some mystery snowplower cleaned out the end of my driveway where the town trucks left their mess after I cleaned up this morning. Holy shit that was a nice thing to do.

Well said! I'm glad someone put the truth out here. The "Fitchburg is a dump" posts out here get tiresome.

I grew up in Lunenburg and lived in Fitchburg for a while. I've lived in Ashburnham for the last 25 years. I shop in Fitchburg every week and never have problems.

Fitchburg was quite a place in the 60s and 70s when the factories were running and it certainly went downhill when they closed but just like all other New England cities it has bad sections.

Roads are crappy all over north central Mass, not just Fitchburg.

I'm not OP but I would think that the trail would be icy this time of year. Even in this kind of weather the trails are fairly busy and the packed snow will end up freezing.

I've lived within 20 minutes of Watatic for most of my life (10 minutes for the last 25 years) and have only hiked up it once, and that was fairly recently.

It does give a great view of North Central Mass.

I'm not in that area but am in the state.

I live in a small town that is near a small city. I would LOVE to have a local coffee shop to stop by and get a coffee and muffin/bagel/scone etc. A nice comfortable place to sit and read, socialize, play a game and enjoy the coffee would be great. A lot of people in my town have commented similar things on social media.

That being said, I know that for myself, and I suspect others, I would end up going to a place like that MAYBE once per week. I can not justify $4 for a cup of coffee, a $5 muffin, or even a $15 freshly roasted pound of coffee. I have gotten used to and come to enjoy the supermarket coffee that I make in my percolator at home.

I wish you all the luck in the world. As someone else mentioned brand loyalty is very strong. And more so, LOCATION loyalty when it comes to attracting the daily commuters that would really drive your business.

Anything there would be great. it is a convenient off/back on the highway to access that plaza.

And while they are monitoring your credit data, they'll be stealing/selling THAT too.

There is an empty K-Mart in on the Fitchburg/Leominster line that they can use. Maybe they will change the plaza name to Alphabet Plaza.

yeah, and that one winter about 10 years back where we got the record snowfalls in February had exactly zero snow on the ground by the middle of January.

Patterns change so it's too early to say there won't be much snow this winter.

I'm in central Mass and am surprised to hear people say there is a potato shortage. All of the super markets I frequent have plenty of all kinds of potatoes and the prices have been lower than I've seen them in a while.

They are just about the only thing in the grocery store that is down in price.

Yeah, the places that have done it have dealt with the issues but it wasn't as easy as the posters on reddit seem to think it is.

There are plenty of responses in this thread saying essentially "put the panels in parking lots and you'll save tons of money because the snow won't land on the ground.
