She's mostly back to her old self. The hardest part has been everyone else, to be honest, still treating her like she's crazy. Hopefully that goes away over time. On the good side, she actually did learn a ton of advanced math over the course of the ordeal, and she's been working with some new tutors online that are helping her continue to grow.

Yes, the peligots seemed to have no qualms about eating meat themselves, though I'm not quite sure if they knew what it was (MREs don't exactly resemble actual food for the most part!) I never found out what their primary food source was.

You sound like one of the good ones. I think people can be made to change, but not without many sacrifices. Very few seem willing to do the work.

If I ever get free of my current situation, I would love nothing more than to see Nails and the tribe again, though I doubt that will ever happen. It's probably for the best. I never want the peligots to see humans again.

My grandfather was mostly deaf, even when he was younger, which may have saved him. I think he had no idea of the danger his stories would lead us to.

I'm not sure if any of them ever had direct contact with him. I got the feeling that they'd heard about him from other workers that came before them and tried to pass that knowledge on to me... which obviously didn't work. I tried to tell them what happened, but they seemed kind of superstitious about the whole thing and didn't want to hear it.

Paul never said. He worked in big pharma... the cops are looking into it, but there's an army of lawyers from his company trying to argue "trade secrets." It's kind of a mess.
