There's a whole subgenre of Prog Metal, like Dream Theater, Trivium, Mastodon, etc...

But my favorite newish prog rock would be King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's Polygondwanaland, Nonagon Infinity, and Murder of The Universe. (Their entire discography is so eclectic it'll give you plenty to listen to and not get bored)

Also Mars Volta's first album Deloused in the Crematorium is great as well as their new self titled album which is more mellow but amazing none the less.

You must be trolling. As a metalhead kid from the 80s who grew up on Priest, Maiden, AC/DC... I can tell you you are 100% wrong. Metallica is metal. They were so metal that when they first came out, it was scary to listen to them, like terrifyingly exciting. And that's a key component of metal. Now you could argue their Black Album is Hard Rock not metal, but that's about it. But Master Of Puppets is a heavy metal masterpiece. Full stop.

Well at the very least only relisten to his stuff if you already own it on vinyl or CD. But stop streaming him. Otherwise you're giving him money every time you do and just helping him fill his racist, psycho, already full pockets

Gotcha. I could tell from your writing "accent"😜

There are genres of electronica without beats per se. Ambient music might be what you're looking for. Also some movie soundtracks are that. Synth based but not beat based. Also "spa" music.

Here's an ambient playlist I found on Spotify as an example. Check it out and see if you like that style.

But if any kind of beats/rhythms/drums in music have become very annoying sounding to you maybe you have a medical condition , like the one for people that can't hear the sound of other people chewing food without getting sick. Hopefully it won't last forever. Because most music is made with beats. And there's a lot of great music out there πŸ˜‰

Nothing. I listen to it all. Manu Chao, Ali Toure, 70s Turkish funk, Nusrat Ali Khan, MC Solar, Cibo Matto, Jaoa Gilberto, Seu Jorge, to name but a few.

But this sub is probably mostly based in the US which is more often than not going to focus on English speaking stuff. Namely American and British music. And Classic rock will always be classic, so it'll keep coming up in posts here.

World Music as a genre has been popular in the US since the 90s. But usually to a more explorative travel oriented part of the population. And remember, only 45% of US citizens even own a passport. So exploring the world is not really their focus, much less it's music.

Good stuff from all over will get through though to those who are looking.

Real question: is English your first or second language? πŸ€”

(Also. Try classical music. There are entire symphonies without "beats")

She builds off of the sounds and momentum of Lorde and Lana Del Rey (who in turn build off the momentum of artists before them). Which has helped propel her even further than either. Her sound is both pop and very edgy. Sort of Goth pop. Perfect for moody tweens and even moody Gen Xers like myself.

Her first full album is the best IMO, but the new one has some magic on it.

Also, talent wise instead of having teams of song writers and producers and musicians (like Beyonce et al..), her albums are made by just her and her brother in their home studio. And that in and of itself deserves much respect.
