In that exact situation the only other thing I can think of besides doing nothing would be to stand up, but keep a good amount of distance, and say to those kids "Hey, do you guys wanna come sit back here?"

Either the kids were unfazed, which, if that's the case, good on them; or they felt like they might have been put at risk by turning their backs and walking away, in which case knowing that you're there and watching and inviting them to back away might make it easier for them.

I think it was a bad interview, because it's near impossible to articulate anything of substance when you're told to limit yourself to one, 15-word sentence. But it's concerning that at least two of these candidates seem not to understand the role of a municipal government as compared to the role of a state and federal government.

I think it would be "right" to pull the lever and sacrifice one innocent person rather than letting it run over five innocent people, but I'm not sure if I could actually live with doing that.

There were rumblings and at least one Zoom meeting about creating a dyke bar/social club in west philly, but the plans were canned over concerns about doing gentrification. To my knowledge there doesn't really exist a lesbian-focused bar here.
